OT: Things To Do With A Baby In Portland

Hey! I've noticed some providers here are in the Portland area. My family is planning a trip there for July. Can anyone give me suggestions on what areas of Portland to visit? We are looking to relax, walk around, visit cafes, go to parks, and take it pretty easy. I've been looking up fun parks and kid-friendly activities, but I am not sure about what sides/areas of the city are the best to visit, and I don't want to be spread out all over the city!

    Thanks in advance!

My son will be almost 1 when we visit.

You are talking about Portland Oregon right??? If so, there is the Zoo, and right up in the same area is the Rose Gardens which is very pretty, you can actually take the Zoo train up there, get off and walk around and take the train back to the zoo. Also up by the zoo is the Childrens Museum, I'm not sure if your son is walking or not but I have a lot of dc parents that take there young ones there. Have fun, if I think of anything else I'll let you know.

        OMSI
        Portland Zoo
        The Rose Gardens
By the Zoo there's a museum or something about logging I believe
Beverly Cleary was Born/Raised there and I believe a park/statue to honor her
The smallest park in the world
        Portland Aquarium
        Oregon Historical Society Museum
        Portland Art Museum
        The Roloff Farm
PGE Park-Take in a soccer game
The Rose Garden (Blazers Play there)
The end of the Oregon Trail Museum (Oregon City I believe-right by Portland)

Oh there is sooooooo much to do!

Right across the Columbia in Washington is Vancouver and I believe there is Fort Vancouver there.

Multnomah Falls is a nice day drive and they are so pretty.

Have you been? I've been debating taking DD (and the possibly DCKs) because it has really negative reviews online but I think they are reviews from more of a parent or adult view rather than how the children enjoyed it. I'd love to hear what you thought if you or someone you know has been!

I recommend OMSI (great for older kids/toddlers but they do have a baby area), children's museum, zoo, forest park, World Forestry Museum, Mt Tabor park. We've been taking DD to all these since she was about 8 months (18months now).

We like to hit the Portland Saturday Market (neat stuff and fun people watching : when its nice and let DD play in the splash fountain. If your looking more coffee shops, Cafe au Play is really neat for kids and I have friends that love Play Date PDX (I've never been)

I haven't personally been to the Portland Aquarium, but my mom's Alzheimer's Day School had a field trip there, and Mom and the others all loved it. I have read that it's aimed at a kid level, so I believe kids would like it ??
