    Planning Ahead...

    Happy Monday!

I am trying to be proactive and am trying to see if it is worth it to offer another rate for say 4k students (1/2 days after lunch), before/after school kids, etc... I am also trying to grow my backbone in the payment collection arena.... anyways I typically have a daily flat rate.... what do you all do? I have seen many posts about before/after school but haven't had much luck with the 4k 1/2 student issue..... any help would be much appreciated!

Sorry, I'm not going to be much help, but I don't do 1/2 day rates. It would mess with my ratio and it would be hard to fill that morning or afternoon spot when the child wasn't here. I only have a weekly rate and a daily rate. The daily rate they have to pay no matter how few hours they are here and it has to be at least 2 days a week so if I were to have a half day child, they would have to pay the full daily rate. I don't know if you have ratios, but it would seem like it would be hard to fill the spot when they aren't there, unless you want to have a part-part timer. For instance, I decided when I opened that I would need to have at least 3 full time kids and the other 2 could be part or full time and I could still make what I feel comfortable with. I don't know if this helped, probably tmi...

I too am trying to grow my backbone in the payment collection area! I have on family who always "forgets" to pay on Friday before the next week of care or even on Monday at drop off and then grandma picks up and he doesn't come back until Thursday, so I won't get paid until Thursday, sometimes Friday!. I love the mom so it's so hard for me to say something! They do pay eventually, but I wish I could just say something when they drop off. Totally my fault, why can't I just say something...

My kinders pay a full day spot. Most of them are here 4-5 hours in the morning and then another 30 min-hour after school. On early release day they will be here a full1.5-2 hours after school so all in all they are here about 5-7 hours even with going to school.

I offer a half day rate but ONLY to families who are enrolled currently so if they had a 4K kid who needed 1/2 day care, the option would be available to them.

However, ANY care that includes lunch and/or rest time (the 2 hardest/busiest times of the day) is billed at the FULL day rate.

Thank you kindly! I was thinking of having my obvious daily rate along with say a rate for after school care (up to 3 hours) and anything over that ie. half days or when school is not in session would be billed at a full day.

My kinders eat lunch here with us but won't on early release day as they leave an hour earlier for school that day.

Like I said even though they are gone I have them quiet a few hours in the day with them coming before and after kindergarten.
