Ummmm She's Mad

I had to call a parent to come pick up a dcb 2 hours after he got here because he threw up. When she gets her I asked her if he had thrown up before he came. She said no but he did tell me his stomach was hurting,but I thought he just wanted to skip daycare today:confused:

She then proceeded to ask me if he could stay since he only threw up one time, ummmm no he can not! You would think she would know better since she work at one of the headstarts here. So with that being sad, she left here mad because she had some running around to do today.

Get this, she just text me and asked if he could come back cause he is acting fine and she doesn't know what caused him to throw up:confused:

I'd ask her if it was a child from her Head Start program that had thrown up would they allow the child to stay or allow the child to come back. Have her think about it from her prospective as a Head Start teacher (assuming that their policies are similar to yours or more stringent). Our Head Start and Jump Start programs run similar and have similar policies and theirs are MUCH more strict than mine. School illness policies are pretty much the same and are also more strict than mine and mine are pretty specific. Don't give in! Otherwise she'll try to negotiate every time her kid gets sick.

I watched a school age sibling of a child I have for a favor to a parent. I used to watch him when he was a baby. Even gave them a good rate. So dad shows up with him again today without calling first. I think I'll be FULL tomorrow and when they do pay me for these last two days I am not giving them a 'deal' on the price the next time.

Sorry I had to get that out but yours is bad too.

It was a mess this morning, the younger kids stepping in it while I'm trying to move them into another room and one other dcb was gagging about to throw up while looking at it.

Yep! Some parents think that just because they pay us to care for their child we should keep them whether their sick or not!

Ewwww poor you! I don't get how people that work in childcare think that our/your policies should be any different than theirs. It's so annoying!

I once had a child throw up at a center that I worked in and one of the toddlers not only stepped in it, but slipped and fell and had it all over his back and in his hair! It happened so fast that we didn't have time to save the poor little guy from falling in it! I feel for you!
