I'm absolutely livid. I spent all day cleaning, kicked my husband out of the house early, fed my DS dinner early, rushed around all day, CONFIRMED the interview with her, got out all the toys for her age daughter, printed materials, fixed myself up, all for nothing.

      I'm fuming. UGH.

Nice, and through email at that! There is a provider in my area who put a post on CL telling parents how rude it is to do a no show! Kinda silly, but I had a laugh! I would put the link on here, but I don't know how!

Well, not you are all dressed and ready. Call a babysitter for your DS and have your DH take you out for a nice dinner and a glass or six of wine. You deserve it!

Good idea but I hate wine, have never left my DS with a babysitter, and my husband is already out for the rest of the evening. UGH.

The only benefit? I have a really clean house... that is, until daycare tomorrow.

so annoying! I hate flakey and inconsiderate people. Maybe take the opportunity to take new photos of your set-up while everything is in "show" condition?

I've had several and they never called at all. One also called in the afternoon like yours. In fact, after several in a row, one did show and I forgot myself and thanked her for showing up. Then I explained and she and I had a good laugh.

How tough is it to pick up the phone?

                    that is incredibly rude.

but I also don't do nearly that much work to interview. my husband and kids stay here, I tidy up the house but it looks just like it would normally look. I don't do anything special for kids coming with parents to the interview. I bring out one basket of blocks or something and thats it. I like to see if the kids can occupy happily with minimal choices.

anyway, maybe its time to review how you handle interviews? so you aren't stressed out and overworked and then upset if people cancel?

I agree with this. I want people to see my house as it normally is, that way they're not expecting perfection all the time . My house stays fairly tidy most of the time anyway, though, so maybe that's why I don't stress over things like this.

On the positive side, at least she called. From what I've read here, many people just don't show up. Now that's something I'd be peeved over.

                        Excellent idea!

Make sure you write her name down and what she did so you remember next year when she tries it again.

I would be mad too, but ITA about turning it into a positive. Take photos while it's all clean and set up, enjoy the clean house, and put the printed materials away for the next interview.
