I'm curious what others charge for having to use your own supplies for daycare kids. In my daycare parents supply their own diapers and wipes for their children. Last Monday one dck had no wipes in the diaper bag. I had to use my supply. I sent a reminder note home and verbally told the parents. Each day no wipes and verbally reminded parents. Today he has wipes, but what do most of you charge as an extra fee for such things?

I wont charge for something like that. He brought the wipes the next day now if it was an on going problem that would be different.
Oh I re read it and it was all week he didn't have wipes? Then I would charge maybe $5 for the week.- Flag

You could put something in your PHB about this, like a $1 a day charge if you have to use your own.- Flag

One of the reasons I don't allow diaper bags/backpacks is because I want to physically see the supplies I require. I give parents a minimum of two days notice to bring required supplies... if they don't show up with them, they are sent away WITH their child to go and get some.- Flag

I will also usually let parents know on FRIDAYs if they need more supplies or not.- Flag

Parents are required to bring a one month supply of diapers on the first of each month if their child wears diapers.
ALL parents are required to bring one refill package of wet wipes and one box of tissues by the first of the month.
Anyone who does not have the required supplies by the 1st is denied services until they have the supplies.
The wet wipes and tissues are pooled together and used for everyone.
I do give parents the option of opting out of the wet wipe and tissue requirement and then they pay a $6 fee on their invoice in lieu bringing the actual supplies instead.- Flag

I provide everything but diapers and I require a case at a time to go in their file drawer. When the case gets down to about 15 or so diapers I let mom know its time to refill that way they can plan it around which payday they need to use.
The only exception is my special baby. Her mom gives me $20 to buy the one case a month I need for her because they are difficult to find where she lives and easy to find where I live. She wears a special kind.
Other than that, my policies say that if your child runs out of diapers, then I will purchase the smallest pack available plus a $5.00 charge for the trouble.m this is due at PICKUP. And if not paid, there is a daily late fee and by the second day of late I refuse care.- Flag

Only thing I have parents supply is diapers and diaper cream if they need it. I supply wipes myself, hated when each kid brought their own the first few years I was doing daycare.
I try to give a decent amount of notice when a child is getting low on diapers and have NEVER had a child come in repeatedly without them, sometimes they have forgotten the morning after I send home the notice but we are never fully out by then. If there was an issue I'd probably turn them and child away at the door "because it wouldn't be very sanitary for the child to remain in that same diaper all day" - all said with a smile on my face.- Flag

I give parents advance notice for supplies like diapers and wipes. If they fail to bring them by the due date, there is a $20.00 convenience charge AND the item MUST be brought the following day or that child will not be accepted into care without them.
I have had two families have to pay that and after that they don't forget anymore.- Flag

My families supply their own diapers & wipes. I remind them if they are getting low. If they forget to bring either I supply it out of my stock & then replace whatever they have used when they bring their supply in. This way their is no interruption in service for the family & my stock stays plentiful.- Flag

I have the parents bring wipes but I also have several tubs of them sitting around. I wouldn't charge for the wipes. They probably got them the next time they went to the store instead of making a special trip just for those. I am just really easy going.- Flag

I supply everything and add a surcharge for diapers/wipes. Once a child is fully toilet trained I remove this fee. I use G-diapers and flushable inserts and launder them myself so the expense is minimal.
I also supply additional needed items for a fee. For instance, I supplied sunscreen, bug spray, towel, swim suit and swim shoes for $35 this year. The swim suits I have a stash of, same with towels and swim shoes were $6/walmart.
ALL but 2 of my parents took me up on this offer.- Flag
