    Transportation Policy?

    What is your transportation policy?

What is your plan of action if SA fails to meet at the pick up spot?

(This is my LAST thing to do in my policies and procedures) happyface

    transportation policy

in Va to transport you are supposed to have a commercial insurance policy and a chaufers(sp/) license because you are being paid to drive children(anyone). In my case our vehicle insurance carrier dropped our coverage after all I did was ASK about using our vehicle to go places. So no more transporting here.

I use this form for transportation, I don't actually have a section in my phb about it.

In Utah, it says we have to have in our P&P what our plan of action would be if the child was not at our meeting spot for pick up. They want a time frame after 5 minutes, 10 minutes, etc.

Same in Iowa. If you are being paid for such a service and you perform the same service regularly, you have to carry all the same licenses as an actual taxi service. Chauffer's license and commercial auto coverage.

I had 1 family ask me to transport. I told her I would if she was willing to pay the insurance. $2550 per year!!! That stopped that idea DEAD!

          No transporting here!

I am in Utah. My policy is that I will wait for the child for 10 minutes at the designated meeting spot after that I will go to the school office to have the child paged (yes with all of the other children in-tow ) After an additional 5 minutes the child's parents will be called from the school phone and we- the school - the parent -myself- will decide the best course of action.
Of course it is written more elloquently in the policies but that is the gist of it. I have never had to call parents from the school but my own children are frequently late to the pick-up spot and when the office staff sees our "train" coming they automatically start paging ::
Also I have been told that as long as there is no extra charge for transporting I do not have to have a special license or extra insurance (although we have double the state required minimum coverages) each States requirements are different.

              I don't transport.

I'm in WI... If you use a vehicle that has a seating capacity of 6 plus the driver you must have an alarm in your vehicle. As I understand it, the alarm has to be turned off manually whenever the vehicle is turned off, and cannot be disabled. Since both of our vehicles seat 6 plus the driver we'd have to deal with an alarm whenever our family went somewhere. It's just not worth it for me.

I like the part about everyone deciding what to do next. That gives me a good start on my policy. Thank you!

Also, since you're in Utah, do you have the license for 9-16 DCK? I was told at the Zoning office today that if I wanted more than 8, I would have to fill out a Conditional Use Permit and get approval from City Counsel. I've NEVER heard of this until today.

I live in Northern Utah. I am currently only licensed for 8. However my neighbor was licensed for 16, She had to request approval from our city council before she could get her city license for the larger group.
