    Jam Day

Jam Day this morning the kids picked strawberries then washed and cut off the tops. then we smashed them and using instant pectin they stirred it into the sugar and into the strawberries. we will eat it for snack and each will have some to take home

I was smart I made Jam yesterday so it is already to go home with each child.

did you know it takes almost double the amount of strawberries when kids clean them.. almost 1/2 was left with the leaves in many cases LOL::

The jar if instant pectin is the way to go so you can make a small patch.

only problem I could not find the Jamberry book. I KNOW I have it somewhere.

other smart thing was I posted plans on the Childcare Facebook page. Big sis dcg wanted to come instead of staying with teacher dcd. same age as dgd Extra money and dgd is occupied win win..

Hmmm Friday is now painting day happyface

anyone can make freezer jam the preschoolers did it almost on their own. Instant pectin is the key the other stuff you have to boil the pectin before adding to the strawberries... you store the jam in the fridge or freeze it... YUM O

I had some Mrs Wages that I really liked that was a packet and needed 4 cups crushed strawberries. This time I used the Ball and it was in a jar so you could make just 1 2/3 crushed strawberries.. and only 2 T pectin. I found it at Walmart in the housewares dept with the canning stuff.
