Can I just say how much I LOVE sensory bins now. We did our first one yesterday - potting soil, plastic bugs, leaves, and a couple dollar store party serverware. I had my DD (4), DS (2,5), and 2 DCK (both 2.5) and they played with it for over an HOUR! And then they begged to go out in the afternoon and play with it again after naptime, but DCG was being picked up early and I didn't want her being a total mess like she was in the morning. It was amazing.
I love how they rarely argued (there were some different kind of scoopers in there, and some wanted to keep switching while others did not), they were all conversing with each other (pointing out the different bugs and colors, and actually ASKING each other for things instead of just taking), finding different ways to play with the objects (DD started to build a dirt castle, DS took out one of the leaves and scoopers and pretended to sweep up the spilled dirt around the bin). Seriously, amazing.
SO that was my bin for bugs, and it will be out for the rest of this week and next week, and we'll end it with a Bug Bath. Next up I have oceans - I'm thinking water, water beads, plastic fish, and fish tank decoration things (plants and pebbles). Anything else that would be cool in here? Has anyone seen plastic fish anywhere?
