I'm down to one problem family!

I am down to one problem family and they put their 2 weeks notice in yesterday!

Since running my business more like a business I have lost at least 4 dcks, but that is a okay with me!!! The families that I still have pay on time, pick up on time and doesn't make everything about them or their child and I love it!!!

I'm trying to make my daycare more of a business and not let the parents run my life for me too. The only problem i'm having is my husband is worried that the parents will go else where since i'm making new contracts and getting stricter. I honestly don't care if i have to find someone else they have been a lot more work than they are worth.

I'm sorry you are down kids but honestly the families that left are families that probably wouldn't have signed on with you if you had run your business like a business first...kwim? I hope that sounds right....they wouldn't have been a good fit for you (now) but now you have the opportunity to have tons of families sign on that WILL follow your rules and policies.

It IS tough to make the transition from friendly, family care to business like care. But you WILL be much happier if you get families like the on you have now!

THAT is what makes having your own place awesome!

Hang in there! I really do believe good things will come your way!

Yes! This is what I was trying to say to Williams2008. Some families may choose to go elsewhere but those are the families you have the most trouble with and the ones who respect you the least.

You WANT families to treat you with respect.

Tell your husband that your time, sanity and self worth are MORE valuable to you than keeping clients who think they can treat you like dirt.

Hooray!happyface. I am sure it is hard to lose families. I have really great families and it is soooo nice.

I even have two state pay families who signed on even tho I am not yet licensed and They must pay out of pocket until I am licensed. One is full-time and one part-time.

                Hope things go great!

Oh wow.... Thankfully I can do state pay unlicensed, even though the reimbursement is lower because I'm not licensed. Not a problem though, the parents pay the difference.

                    Thank you!

It has been very tough being that I am having to pay for a separate space for daycare. Other than that my days have been awesome not having to constantly chase down payments or remind parents of my policies. I am looking forward to enroll more families like the ones I have now!!!
