A lot of preschools work this way. They charge a flat fee for 10 months, and most of them consider the first week in June to be the end of the school year. It is pretty stinky to pay for a whole month that you aren't getting, but around here, that is pretty standard.- Flag

It's Scout-for some reason my logins are not staying?? Here we only pay a flat fee for 9 mos. My son's last day was two weeks ago so we pay sept-may and they go until the last day week of May. I think that stinks that you had to pay that and not use the whole month!- Flag

I think that's typical of preschools. A little gal I watch finished preschool last Wednesday (May 29th), and school here goes until June 18th. I have had kids go to preschool over the years, and they do always get out 2-3 weeks before the big kids' school.- Flag

When my older boys attended a private PK they always were finished @ May 10th or sooner and the local schools were not done until the last week of May or first part of June. We still had to pay for the whole month even though we may have only went 4-5x- Flag

Actually that's a really good point too. I boy I watch finished preschool two weeks ago and that district goes until next week, I think. And they follow the SD calendar.Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!- Flag

This happened to me last year/ds's first year of prek, too. Except he atleast got 2 weeks out of it (they closed mid-June). This year I knew about it going in, but they are closing early (Tuesday 6/12). I do feel jipped, as he only will attend 7/8 HALF days and it's costing me $600. (or about $85 a day!)
Although I do a hands on non official curriculum with my daycare kids, because there are no preschools in the area, in the past I've offered ONE official preschool spot per school year. For next year I have enrolled that child already.
They come either for a morning session or afternoon session of four hours.
They get an official curriculum and more one on one cucciculum for preschool. I charge $100 a week for half days. I can't imagine $150 a week for half day preschool.- Flag
