My pediatrician has always said that teething does NOT cause fever, or diahrrea....she says its because they r putting their hands & everything in their mouths that have all kinds of germs that they pick up viruses through that! This makes perfect sense! Think about it, my older kids who lose baby teeth & cut adult teeth never run fevers or anything, because they aren't putting hands in mouth or chewing things! Lol!

hmmm I am thinking about the same thing. But I clean the carpet every week via steam clean. Do you think that would be enough or that I should rip out the carpet still.....

Neither of my own children have ever been big about putting their fingers in their mouths as little ones so I disagree with this statement, but that's the wonderful thing about this forum we all don't have to agree but the wealth of brain picking on issues is priceless

Very true! btw-have any of you heard of "toddler diahrrea?" I actually had a mom tell me that once....."oh the dr. says its just toddler diahrrea." I'm thinking "I don't care what you want to call it, I'm not dealing with it!"

I guess that's what my doctor would refer to as viral diarrhea. Sheesh who knows nowadays .

My doctor says that teething has nothing to do with it, teething does NOT cause fever.

EXPERIENCE tells me that teething causes fevers (and diarrhea).

I guess we may never have agreement on this issue, but I KNOW that I always see fevers when teething pain is bad (and often a very runny nose that runs clear).

You are an angel. I would never have heard that because I would never have allowed a 5 year old to stay who "refused to potty train"!
