Here it is:
Those Hot days of summer!
We had a great summer and the kids had a lot of fun going to the Spray Park, zoo, playground, running through the sprinkler and even splashing around in the pool!
**** came a long way from at first, screaming at the first dip of her toe in the pool, to not wanting to get out at all! **** has no fear of water anywhere, and **** and **** are my little fish!
I am starting to send home all of the summer clothes, swim diapers and supplies that you had brought for the summer, so please check your bags for those items.
I think next summer I am going to do things a little differently. I had everyone bring in their own sunscreen for their child, but when it came time to go outside, I found myself going through everyone’s bag and making sure I was using the right on bottle on the right child, so I will be asking each parent to supply one bottle of sunscreen SPF 50, to be used on all children. If there are any allergic issues to any one brand please let me know.
Autumn leaves are falling!
And so are the temperatures. Since I am sending home all of the summer clothes, now is a good time to replace them with fall clothes, sweatshirts, long sleeved shirts, jackets, pants and socks. These are also used in case anything gets soiled.
Temperatures are cooler in the morning, but do warm up in the afternoon, so keep that in mind when dressing your child in the morning. Make sure your child has something cooler to change into in the afternoon.
Safety Concerns
Running a daycare means a lot of little feet running and crawling around on my carpets, which is why we do not wear shoes in the house. With the cooler weather, children are no longer running around barefoot. Therefore, for safety reasons, I am asking all parents if you can put slipper socks (socks with the rubber treads) on your child in the morning or bring in a couple of pairs or a pair of slippers. I don’t want anyone to slip and fall and get a boo-boo.
Closing Reminders:
*Thanksgiving Day Nov. 25, 2010
*Christmas Eve Dec. 24, 2010
*Monday Dec 27, 2010 (since Christmas Day falls on a Saturday this year.)
*My daycare will be closing early at 3PM on New Year’s Eve Dec. 31, 2010
*Fees are due for these days if it is your regular scheduled day*
Policy Reminders:
Late Pick-up
Now that school is back in session, my son and my family have many extracurricular activities that do require me to be able to close on time, so it is very important that you are here to pick up your child as contracted. As in our agreement, if you are late picking up, you will be billed:
6-30 minutes-$5
31-60 minutes-$15
Early Drop Off
If you find you need to drop off your child earlier than contracted, you may do so as long as I am notified ahead of time. The fee for this service is as follows:
6-30 minutes-$5
31-60 minutes-$10
Parents Night Out!
I will be offering a special “Date Night” out Fri Oct 1. You may bring your children to me from 6-11pm so that you and your spouse can enjoy a night out together without having to worry about a sitter. The cost for this “special” evening will be $25 per child. I will feed them their dinner, give them their bath, put on their jammies and read them a good night story! Please RSVP by September 28.
Contact Info
Do you need to update any contact info? Has any phone numbers changed?
Have you switched your child’s Dr.? Do you need to add an authorized pick up person? These things are often overlooked, so if there have been any changes, let me know so I can make the necessary changes to your records!
New Procedures
I am going to be using a new computer program that has been written just for childcare providers, so in order for me to make this transition, there will be a couple of new changes.
First of all, there will be a “sign in/sign out” sheet by the front door that parents will be required to sign, along with the date and time of your arrival and pick up times. This will become a part of your file, as it will show the dates and times your child was here and also will show which parent has either dropped off or picked up the child. It will also be used for me to prepare the weekly invoices.
The second change will be that I will be changing my week to run from Fri-Thurs instead of Mon-Thurs. This will allow me to prepare your invoices and send them home with you by Thursday. Payments will still be due by the close of business on Fridays to avoid the late payment fee. Everyone’s fee for the week of September 27, 2010, will be lower, as you will be paying one less day that week only. The normal schedule will resume the following week. Any additional fees will be added to next weeks invoice.
These changes take effect September 30, 2010.
New Referral Credit!
So you want some extra cash? I currently have some slots for before and after school care that I need to fill, so ask your friends and neighbors if they need this service. For any family that you refer to me that does enroll with me, I will give you a $25 credit towards your daycare fee!
**Must reside in the ******* School District only and cannot exceed a total of 3 hours per day**
Thank you for sharing your little blessings with me!

**Thanks to all of those on this site who had given me ideas to be able to put this together! I used a newsletter template online, and it came out really good!
