    Our Surprise Visitor Today

My two 2-year-old dcbs were playing by the sliding door that looks out on the back yard. One of them said, "I see a bunny." I assumed that he meant it was outside until a little rabbit went running across the playroom! Apparently our cat had caught it and brought it in through my son's bedroom window which he keeps opening even though it doesn't have a screen.

The little guys were so excited and watching for the bunny (which had taken refuge behind the dryer) kept them entertained all morning. I finally trapped it in a pet carrier and set it free so they spent all their outside time looking for it in the bushes. I'm sure the poor thing was traumatized but it sure made our day a little more interesting.

      That's the fun of pets!

Don't forget though, that rabbits often carry Leptospirosis, and it can spread to humans and pets. I'd be sure to thoroughly disinfect anywhere the animal was!

haha, I'm glad the bunny was ok. I'm surprised you were able to catch it. I've had a dove and a hummingbird come inside before. The hummingbird was a pain in the butt, because it wouldn't let me catch it, and I knew it would starve to death if it didn't get outside in a couple hours. I finally swatted it outside with a net. I guess it's time to get a new screen on that window

This happened to my Dad once. He let the cat inside and it was carrying a live bunny. He dropped it directly in to his food dish and look up at my Dad, like, "I caught it, you cook it!" :: It took my Dad an hour to catch and release that bunny.

My cat has brought in bunnies (and entire family, one by one) moles, mice, snakes, frogs, all kinds of bugs and the last time, it was a robin. At least he has the common courtesy to kill them first before he brings me the gifts. :: I have to say, it's great local rodent control, nothing messes with my garden, and he is so cute when he looks at me like "I can help, see I brought dinner!"

My kids would have loved seeing the bunny alive though!

awww, a bunny! That's so cute! Though I'm sure catching it was less cute, .

My cat brought me a live mouse...twice. The shrews he has the common decency to kill and leave on the doorstep. The mice, I guess were better gifted live. I had a lively time catching them!!
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

One of our dogs brought in a rabbit once too. And the cat has also brought in a snake and a baby red-bellied woodpecker. The woodpecker was really hard to catch! It was big and I was scared of that long sharp beak. I finally got it cornered, put on my "Ove-Glove" to protect my hand and grabbed it. It was squawking so loud that I took it to my son's room to wake him up--it made a great alarm clock--before I let it out.
