    Sick child call

I had a dcm call this morning and told me that her son 3 yrs old has a cough and that she doesn't know if she should bring him. Wanted to know my opinion. I said, well I can't hear the cough or see him, so you need to determine that. I mean, some kids have coughs for weeks with no other symptons and they're fine for daycare. She actually called her son near the phone and told him to cough for me. The kicker? She's a nurse. I told her, you're a nurse, if he's sick then he needs to stay home. If it's just a minor cough then send him. She said she would figure it out and she would text me. Ten minute later I got a text saying she was keeping him home. She writes, "He acts fine, but it's definately croup". If you knew it was croup then why in the hell would you want to send him? Idiots, I swear!

My Dcf did that to me last week. Dcg woke up with a red eye and Dcd called for my opinion if she should come or not.

I just simply said if you suspect pink eye she should not come.

They brought her in and she was fine.

But it comes down to common sense!

Just got a call from dcm for today. She said that her husband was coming home from work to take care of dcb this morning and he's stopping to get his Prednisone from the pharmacy. She said that she was going to give him that and some motrin and probably bring him later today. Ahhhh, if he has croup, has to take 2 or 3 different medicines to feel better, then maybe he needs to stay home. That's what I told her. So, I'm sure she wasn't happy with me, but I don't care. He hasn't even started the Prednisone and she wants to have me watch him and expose other kids? Man what is wrong with people?

Glad you told her no. If he's medicated in order for him to feel healthy, then he isn't healthy.

Good for you. I would probably make sure they stay home tomorrow also. What do some people think:confused:

If they have to call and are questioning it, then they probably need to stay home.

Luckily I don't work on Fridays so I won't see him until next week. It just really got me ticked because he hadn't even taken what his doctor prescribed for him at the point that she called me. Not to mention that she's a nurse and should know better. I told her that I would be very upset if he came and passed it to another child here that happens to have a 2 month old brother at home.
