    Infant Charge

How much do you charge for a 7 months old coming two days 7:30 to 4:30? And how does it work if they add on another day?

I don't charge by day but I have an infant who was promised to come only two days. Part time is 24 hours and under and so I said I wouldn't charge them extra for a newborn cause they were only coming two days. I also don't have a lot of newborns here and those that have come have normally been full time. Not part time. But NOW they keep adding on time. Started out with an hour or two here or there to a full day now. They cut it to the wire on time. Like to the second. That was not my agreement. So I am thinking on telling them that if they are going to bring the child on a normal bases for three days I am raising their rates. This baby is a handful, takes time from the other children and personally I don't want her more than the agreed upon two days. It isn't worth my time.

So how do you charge for infants?

I'd charge as much as it took to get them to find care elsewhere.

Baby isn't a handful, baby is a handful because she's only part time and her schedule isn't consistent.

I personally don't take any kids part time for this reason, but that rule applies particularly so to infants.

I actually really enjoy part timers but only kids over 18 months or so. Part time infants are notoriously NOT worth it. They never get on schedule and they are horribly unhappy in daycare. I seriously have never had a part time infant work out well and will never take one again. I would not do it, even if you increased rates.

I only have a full time weekly rate or a part time daily rate with a minimum of two days. They have to pay the daily rate no matter how many hours they are here, not to exceed 10 a day. I don't charge more for infants although I should. You are right, they are a lot of work and take a lot of your time, especially if they are only part time! I decided not to take anymore infants if the one that I have now should leave! And like pp said, I too like part timers, but only if they are around a year and a half.

I don't have a per day minimum but I do have a per week minimum. $100 bucks. If all they want is 2 days and they're willing to pay the minimum, so be it!

I charge the same for all kids, regardless of age-I can't see discounting because of age, because ALL ages have their trials. Part-time, I have a $65 per week minimum (0-20 hours) and $3.25 per hour after that.

In my center in Maine, my daily rate for an infant is $50 and the FT rate is $195 I have consistently had infants in my care so people do pay it!! Also, I agree, two days w an infant is awful (which I do for one family).....the lack of consistency is a joke!!!

I decided to notify her that I can no longer take the child on additional days. They give me a schedule a month in advance and they will have to stick to it. After thinking about it, I have a full house for the summer and am scheduling days for the older kids to do field trips when the baby is not here so my aide doesn't have to deal with her. I can no longer take surprise visits. All the same...........she isn't worth what they are paying. It makes for a very frustrating day! *sigh* Too bad we can't charge for personalities!

Love this idea sometimes! I hope they end up finding a new place, sounds like you don't need em anyways!

I have multiple rate options available for kids over age 2.

Since infant spaces are so hard to come by in my area, I charge one flat weekly rate for infants no matter how often or how little they attend.

I also agree that a part time infant = a difficult infant.

                      Not always, but most times.
