DCB woke up early and I invited him to get a book and look at it. He was chattering at me a bit and I gently asked him several times to please just look at his book, or find another one if he wanted (I don't often get breaks and am relishing NOT being chattered at right now! NOt ready for break time to be over!).
He complied and there were several minutes of silence. Then a quiet little voice from across the room said softly, "Miss Silver?"
"Yes, X?"
"You're the bestest babysitter. Thank you. I love you."
D'awwww....my heart melted. "Thank you, X. You're one of the best kids I babysit."
BIG GRIN on his face. "Thank you!" he said softly, and went back to quietly being busy, all on his own in his own world.
I struggle with this job day after day, for a variety of reasons, but it's moments like ^^^THAT^^^ that keep me going. The hugs, the compliments, the sweet words. Makes me not mind the stress and chaos, the fighting and arguing, the whining and moaning. Well, not mind it as much.
