I think from now on, I am just going to say "Well, we do play outside daily, and there are bugs outdoors".
When we first moved here.....(from california to the south), my kids were eaten up with mosquito bites. I did not put bug spray on them and certainly not deet! It was kind of a non-issue.

So....what happens when 1 year goes by and some of these kids are in the brick school/kindergarten? Do parents blame bug bites on the big school? I think not.

Yes there are totally people who do. I think there are people, I don't know if it's a generational thing or what, who just refuse to take personal responsibility for anything in their lives. Something is always someone else's fault. I'm not surprised it would extend to parenting as well. I do think there's a difference between expressing concern (even about something you don't think is a big deal) and blaming you for it.

In general, my observation on this forum is that a lot if providers seem to feel attacked if a parent just asks a question which I do not really get. I am wondering why that is

In my area a bug bite could mean west Nile...

However, down here in my area, there is NO SUCH THING as ONE BUG BITE .

If one skeeter bites, you better run like heck because a hundred more are headed your way .

I'm curious...what are the statistics of contracting West Nile? How do those statistics compare to getting in the car and driving home.....yet people don't freak out about that. I know several who have died in car accidents and I don't know a single person who had West Nile.
