Outside Infant Help

Ok, so my new 9 month old infant, who is a happy baby for a majority of the day (super active, loves to just be left alone and explore everything) has a difficult time being outside. He wants to crawl all over, gets mad when I don't let him eat the grass/sticks/dirt/flowers, which he is constantly trying to do (he puts EVERYTHING in his mouth). I have a blanket out, and a bag of toys that I pull out one by one to keep him entertained on the blanket, but that only covers about 15 minutes of our outside time. He also does not like to be in the stroller ... went for a walk the other day thinking that would for sure be a happy time for him (he was very cranky that morning) and he just cried and tried to climb out of it the whole time.

Am I missing any ideas for helping him be more comfortable outside? Like I said, he's generally a happy baby - just does not like being "contained" ... I have a feeling he's going to be a very stubborn little toddler.

I usually take things out with us when I take my class (mobile infants) outside. Bubbles, chalk, something messy to play with in a tub, balls, ect. I feel like if some of the ones that have a harder time outside focus on something else first, then they are a bit more ready to explore the outside.

I have a 10 month old that lives to be outside. He does NOT like to be contained. So I let him go. I just make sure his mom brings extra clothes and generally have to change him after each time we go outside, since he just crawls through the mud, grass and sand box. But this gives him the best outside experience and he loves it! I just keep a close eye on him to make sure nothing gets in his mouth. Good luck!

I have a 10 mo old who loves to be outside, she loves to be in the exersaucer as long as she can see the kids playing, and I also have a little tikes car, so I'll buckle her in that and it has a long handle for pushing so she loves to be pushed around, so she kind of goes where I go. I also have a baby swing and she LOVES that too, she'll do all of them and we'll be outside for a couple plus hours at a time.

what about a baby swing? my two littlest take turns in the swing and that keeps them busy for a long time!

I'd get a nice super yard for outside! They setup in minutes and you can make them quite big. You can get 8 panels for $55 at walmart.

Right now we cannot use our swing set because it does not have ground cover underneath it, so we don't use that part of the yard. I do have a little climber/swing thing out, and I put him in that swing. He was happy for about 5 minutes because starting to cry and climbing out. He doesn't like the exersaucer either :\

I've been thinking about getting one of these for inside (for him, too, since he just seems to be ALL OVER THE PLACE, getting into everything, even the "bigger kid" area stuff), so I might just put her first payment to me towards a couple of these, haha.
