    7MO Is A Toy Stealer

I have a 11mo DCG (weight=17lbs) and a 7mo DCB (weight= 30 lbs).....whatever DCG picks up to play with, DCB swipes from the girl.....to the point of crawling waaaaay across the room....even when I try to interest him in something else, he is hell bent on swiping DCG's toy

Any suggestions on what to do????

    I so feel your pain

The two I have now are a smidge older but were recently into doing the same thing. The only thing that has helped is sitting right there in the middle of them to intercept. When I had to be preparing meals or helping other kids is still keep an eyeball on them at all times and would intervene if needed.

All I'd say is a cheery no-no and then take the toy and give it back, over, and over, and over etc again. I'd then redirect the snatcher onto another toy. If I didn't they'd both start swinging at each other and both would end up bawling in quite the dramatic fashion even if they never made contact.

I once wondered if I put a pedometer on how many steps a day I was taking by intercepting all those squabbles

Just got to be consistent, they'll figure it out eventually

My first question is, does it bother the 11 mo?

If not, let them work it out. Only intervene if necessary.

Now then, you have a long road ahead of you!

"7mo, 11 mo is using that toy. She does not like it when you take her toys. Please give it back". (assist in returning the toy) "thank you, now lets find something else".

"When you take toys form 11mo, it makes her sad. See her face? She is crying. Please give it back" (assist) "thank you, now lets find you a toy".

      good luck!

7 months old is too young to understand it's wrong to take a toy away. Give it back to the other child and give the 7 mo something else.

I watching my friends 9 month old this week, and she instantly goes for my 10 month old DDs toys- especially when in the pack n play outside. Since Zoey never cries, I just laugh about it. At this age, jus try to be consistent, give it back to the child who originally had it, and put the "thief" in a different area with different toys. Hopefully they will learn they don't want to move away good luck!
