    Dishwashing Stations

Does anyone have this for DCKs after meals? I'm not talking sensory play (which my kids love BTW) but having them "wash" up after meals?

Years ago I worked at a center where the kids did this and last night I visited a provider friend who has one set up. Obviously you still have to wash the dishes properly :: but I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with this. My provider friend said its awesome (we both have small groups) but I usually take things she says with a grain of salt because we run our programs differently so I figured I'd check with you guys and see what your opinions on them are.

I don't have them as all my dck's are 2.5 and under, but I think it's an awesome idea! I would have it as an option though. My kids do like to clean though...maybe I should try it. I do give them wet washcloths and let them "clean" the windows or whatever they want to clean and they love it!

When my sis and I were little, I remember that we used to literally lick our plates clean (when it was something good) and my mom would tell us that they were so clean that she didn't even need to wash them. We felt like we were really helping her and were proud and I remember the feeling to this day!

I don't have mine wash their dishes but I do have them scrape their plates and help clear the table and wash it. Usually someone will also use the handbroom to clean up the floor if it's not too bad.

It's a neat idea if the children aren't too young. Mine are. Also, they couldn't do it at the sink at my house because they'd have to stand on something to reach the sink.

Edited to add: After re-reading your post I think you mean something separate set up from the sink. Not very much room here for that.
