    Help With A Parent

I have a family daycare and its few and far between that I have to tell someone to leave, but that is my situation and here's how the story goes...The mother of the child I keep is a teacher and my husband recently lost his job, so to make the situation easier, i used my husband as my scape goat and I told her that after the school yr ends, I have to fill his spot during the summer because I need the money since hubby lost his job. Her response (this TOTALLY backfired on me ) was "ooh, we'll that's ok because I was planning on bringing him throughout the summer anyway. You'll still get your full time pay." Little does she know, I've already filled his spot and I dont have anymore room. So how do I handle this now? She's SUCH a pain and I want her gone! What do I say? Anyone...anyone?

    Ouch!

I guess, I'd just have to be honest and tell her that you weren't expecting her to come during the summer, so you filled the spot with someone else.

Yeah, I have to agree with the above. ^^^

I know it's too late now, but I would have just provided her with a two week notice and not used a made up excuse because that definitely have a way of coming back to bite you....

You wouldn't have had to use any long drawn out excuses other than saying that you were terming for business reasons and left it at that.

Just go ahead and give her termination notice and leave it at that.

Yup, that's close enough to the truth.

Put it back in her court. Tell her that she didn't mention anything to you, so you filled the spot with another child. Basically, tell her politely "You snooze/you lose".

              That's a good idea.

If she argues or begs I'd just say "Sorry, I've made my decision." Chances are she knows deep inside that she's been a pain anyway.

Had she ever told you that she did/ did not need care for the summer? If she had said she did not need care, there's your easy out by telling her that she hadn't told you otherwise and you've already filled the spot. Good luck!
