    Done With This Family

I've wanted to term this family for the longest time. There is always something different every week regarding policies being broken. I have given them chance after chance.

Dcg is part time...started out coming 3 days per week, then went to 4 days per week. When it was 3 days I was charging a drop in rate and keeping track of hours. When it went to 4 days, I also had just changed my policy and re-wrote it to where everyone was either ft or pt...NO DROP INS.

So dcm pays every 2 weeks and payment would be due this Friday. She also started care before I changed my policy to advance payments so she pays at the end of the week.

Since dcg attended her 4 days last week, she has only been here Monday this week. I'm not sure what is going on...they NEVER let me know their schedule even though I've requested it over and over each week. So now it's the third day of no show, no call....NOTHING.

I am ready to term them for this being the last straw, but I am thinking about waiting to see if they have just quit care without notice, in which case I will charge them the 2 week early termination without notice fee, which is two weeks worth of regular fees.

In my contract, it says that the two weeks term fees would be due for two weeks following the last day the child was in care, which would be this past MOnday.

Now, since she owes for this week anyways, do I charge her ONLY for this week, one additional week and one day which overlaps the one day she came this week?

Or would I charge her for two weeks AFTER the week her fees would have been due?

I'm not saying anything about termination unless they show up at my door, and then I'm telling them I won't accept her back as she's been gone for 3 days with no show/no call...among all the other things. If they do that, then it would be me terminating and no fees would be due except for time she spent in actual care.

    Hope I made sense....

 I'm confused. I think I'd just charge them 2 weeks. If they no called/no showed they are probably planning on not paying and it'll be a bear to get anything at all out of them. I'd keep it simple if it were me. But technically since she did show that monday, you could also charge that week too - I think.

Personally, I would have called them that first day they didn't call/show and asked what was up. I hate the not knowing. If they are done, I want to confirm it and move on.

    Good luck!

Well, at this point they are gone whether by their choice or mine. I am thinking by the way my contract is written I will have to use the 2 weeks from last date of care. And I WILL get my money...that's why we have contracts, that's why we have small claims courts.

Good for you being a fighter! Sometimes, I'm just happy to be done with the situation instead of fighting for the money.

I may even just be glad to get what I've already earned and call it a day...but I'm just so irritated with their irresponsibility that I think I may be out for blood. LOL

So, they paid last week but didn't pay this week yet? I would charge them for this week and be done.

That's what I would do. I totally understand being out for blood when a family makes your blood boil, but at the end of the day your mental health is worth so much more. Don't cause yourself anymore stress than necessary!

No...they owe me for full tuition last week, and she only attended one day this week and Friday would have been her usual pay date. I think I'm going to send notice for full fees for last week, as well as this week since she did attend Monday and forget about any early term fees.
