Cloth Diaper Question

Do you require families to provide a wet bag/plastic bag to send dirty diapers home in?

My 1st cloth diapering family just started and at first they brought a wet bag but haven't the last few days and I'm nearly out of plastic bags. I keep 2 plastic bags in each DCKs cubbie in case of accidents but other than that DH and I try to avoid plastic. I'm not really interested in going shopping just to get some for this reason or delpleting my cubbie (accident) stash. Is it normal to ask them to bring the wet bag/ plastic bag or am I being nit picky?

My licensing actually requires it.

I've never been cited for it and my licensor has never said anything but I came across the sentence in the licensing regs the other day.

I would absolutely require them to bring a wet bag.

If they don't, I would be half tempted to hand them back the wet diapers as is (with NO bag)

...bet they get the hint REAL fast that way.

I did this once. I had a Dad who would never bring the diapers in a wetbag, or bring a bag....after asking repeatedly, I put them back in the diaper bag. I put a few paper towels between them and the fabric of the bag, but the next day, I had bags to put the wet diapers in.

This may seem really odd but is there still plastic bags available in your area?

There is a city in our state that has banned plastic bags-none are available in the city!!! I think I heard more are getting on board with this also.

They are promoting reusuable bags and if you have to have a bag they charge you a nickel per paperbag. If you don't want a paper bag or have a reusable one you are allowed to carry your merchandise out in your arms/cart/whatever.

I didn't have a reusable bag on us, so we just bought one because I did not feel comfortable carrying my merchandise out in my arms/cart.

:::: that was actually my first thought today when no wet bag was with the stuff :: They send a canvas bag with her stuff and I could see it all wet and nasty going home ::

I'll chat with them tonight, its much easier and cleaner using the wetbag than the plastic bags anyway.

Fruit/veggie/meat bags are still available so I'm maybe healthy eating will take on a whole new light. Those plastic bags will become like gold to some-::


I have a headache already trying to figure out our summer/school clothes shopping and Christmas shopping. I don't/won't have enough reusable bags and refuse to carry all those clothes and Christmas stuff through the mall!

I know that the people who passed this probably more then likely aren't shoppers!

I cloth diaper both of my daycare babies and parents have to bring a wet bag every day if they aren't using my supplied diapers. I have never had an issue with them forgetting "yet".

I'm a cloth diaper fanatic and find it incredibly rude of them to not send you a wetbag. That's as essential as a diaper itself for the baby if they're being sent to daycare. :confused:

Hope they bring you one tomorrow! If they don't, I'd just place them in the diaper bag they bring.

I have nothing to add about the cloth diapering, as I don't do it. However, I try to use re-usable bags myself but my parents are always bringing me their plastic bags to use for accidents. I have built up quite the stash that way. In case you ever run out, that is.

they have a wetbag, there is no excuse not to pack it besides just plain laziness to correctly supply their child for the day. Let them know that it MUST come to daycare. Check the diaper bag before they leave in the morning and if they forget, send them and their child home. They can return with the child when all supplies are also brought. Its disgusting to not correctly provide for a cloth diapered child. Its unsanitary. and this is coming from someone that has cloth diapered four of my own kids and several daycare kids. If daycare parents walked in and saw that you were not correctly disposing of paper diapers or not correctly storing soiled cloth diapers, you bet they would have something to say about that! plus the smell issues.

I have one infant using cloth diapers and the parents bring the clean diapers in the wet bag. i just remove the clean diapers stack them on the shelf and then use the wet bag for the used diapers. then they take it all home launder it and return it all clean the next day. no other Diaper bag needed and nothing is forgotten!

Thanks for all your responses! I was thinking it was a pretty important component, but i felt like a whiner complaing over a plastic bag ::

I talked to mom tonight and she apologized for not bringing it, they had bought an extra one just for DC but DCD packs it in the morning and kept forgetting as their mornings have been hectic. This is their first full week, their ODD used to come here and has been throwing a huge fit all morning because she's not coming to my house but baby is DCM said she'd make sure it was in the bag tonight so there was no was way DCD could forget it tomorrow!

Fingers crossed, otherwise they're getting a wet diaper bag back

Yes, a wetbag is essential, & is even stated in my handbook that if they CD, they must bring me enough diapers & their choice of wipes, & a wetbag daily. Maybe they've just overlooked, especially if it's a young/first baby. I'd just mention it to them.
