    What Parents Dare To Ask

"Could you take care of my 3 kids 5 days a week for 200?"

In my area they charge around 160 to 200 per child in family home dc in centers is up to 280 per child. And this is full time we are talking about.

Maybe they are insane? That's just insulting. If someone were charging me that much for 3 kids fulltime, I'd wonder what kind of care they would get. If you want good quality care, you have to pay for it like anything else.

I think sometimes families confuse home childcare's with people who babysit (for lack of a better word). Many college students will go to a families house and will watch that many children for that low amount of pay ( I used to be one of them ) I honestly don't think that many parents know the difference between a home childcare that has some type of program or dedication to childcare from a person who may or may not provide quality care and who is just doing to babysit (again for lack of a better term) or to make money. Geez, I hope this makes sense. It sounded better when I was thinking of it, but when I read it, it doesn't sound like what I'm trying to say..

        I agree with this.
That person might find a SAHM who would be willing to do it for that price, so they are probably confused as to where to find this person. I bet they will find someone, but certainly not a quality program.

They are not confused, that I know. they have had their kids in centers, they have had nannies and baby sitters and they have had hdc. I know the know better because they've been with me for a while now and know how I work and run my DC. They also know I am loosing a bunch of kids soon, so IDK if they feel they could "take advantage" of that situation KWIM?

Oh, I thought it was a family who called and needs care. Well, that is a different story! What nerve of that mom! I could never ask my provider to do that (if my kids had to go somewhere)!

I had a call where they mentioned that their last daycare charged $30 a day total for their 3 kids ages 2,4 and 7 and then asked if I could do the same. Uh, no.

I would LOVE to be a babysitter.

Babysitters around here make $10 to $15 per hour

                  working in someone else's home

                  watching someone else's cable TV

                  using someone else's internet

                  eating someone else's snacks

while the kids usually sleep 50% of the time.

Babysitter? I only wish I made that kind of money for that kind of work!! :: ::

No kidding! My assistant baby-sits for a lot of my families after hours and boy do they pay her the big bucks! $80 for 4 or 5 hours! I'd do it if they called me! LOL

I had to check your location, because I thought you had received a call from the same person who called me last month! The call I got that wanted to pay me $200 per week for her kids came out to $0.55 per hour per kid. Um, drop dead. She and her husband work at the same place. They both have VERY good jobs. They just don't want to pay for child care.

I just don't understand how anyone could ask someone to do that and be ok paying that for the service they are getting. The mother of a good friend of mine is a provider and she had a family ask if they could get a discount on the rate for the next four weeks because they had an emergency vet bill. They didnt ask for a rate reduction with a reduction in the hours-- just take our kid for the same amount of time and can we pay you less to do it? That's pretty audacious.

Seems just as silly as parents asking for a discount because they have more than one child.

More than one child means more work than just one child so why do people (in general) think that means a discounted rate?

That is one line of thinking that confuses the heck out of me.

This family also has very good jobs, nice cars and none of their kids wear "cheap" clothes. Everything is brand name, from the cars to the grocery stores, even the town they live in is expensive. They have a baby that is a new born and is not yet in DC and they asked that questions because they are trying to figure out what to do, basically if I accept the baby they will keep the other 2 here, but they are asking me to take all 3, 5 days a week for the same price that they pay for 2 part timers. Is not the first time they do something similar, once the asked if I could lower the fee because of money issues and how expensive life is and 2 weeks after they bought a brand new Mercedes SUV
