Yes! I Have an Interview With a Teacher!

    I'm soooo excited!
I hope to eventually get all teachers kids so that I can get my kids off the bus and all my clients will already be gone. Not only that but its for an elementary school, so that means she won't arrive until 8:00 - after my kids get on the bus! Yay!
Obviously there will be professional days when I have their kids and mine, but for the most part it will be awesome!

Congrats! 2 of my 3 families are teachers. It is wonderful to have the school breaks off with just my own kids! This is the first year I decided to take the summer off and I can't wait! I wouldn't be too excited about the earlier hours just yet, unless you plan on using contracted hours for them to pick up early. I am open 7-5 and both of my teacher families are here 9+ hours every single day. Soooooo frustrating to me and something I have been struggling with having patience about for most of the year. I actually considered switching to contracted hours because of this. Good luck to you though! I hope it works out for you!

I won't let that happen. She inquired for 8-3:30 hours and that's what she is going to get. This will be discussed @ interview.

        I have 6 teacher moms.

ALL of them drop off before 8:00
NONE of them pick up until atleast 4:00.

None of them are avoiding their kids...that is just the work hours they have.

Some are middle school teachers and the others are elementary.

Those were the hours she asked for. Her dd is in a center now, so I'm assuming she knows what she needs. I will have to ask her about any extra time she thinks she may need.

I'm sorry...I was trying to do ten things at once,

I didn't mean to leave my post the way it was....I got caught up reading the other post too....

My original intention was to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!! happyface

It is always nice to have families that "fit" what we are looking for as far as summer care and daily hours.

I am sure that you will be successful in sorting through her needs and wants as far as schedules go!

As a teacher, I can tell you that even though teacher's hours are from X:00-Y:00, there is not enough plan time during the day, and most teachers go early/stay late to actually get their work done (lesson planning, grading papers, cleaning, ect). BUT if she told you 8-3:30, I'd just emphasize that you work with contracted hours. Maybe she's not one to hang around school to do work outside her hours! Good luck, I hope it works out- having all teachers would be a dream for me, too

How exciting! I had a friend who only had teacher's kids so she closed every summer. She banked the payments all year and "paid" herself so she'd still have an income over the summer. I'd love to have summers off, but we always need 100% of my income right away.

I thought of this. It would certainly take some discipline! But its such a great idea!

Congrats!! I have changed my program to work on teachers schedules. It is going to be aweseome to have more time with my own kids. Our schools have funky hours so my hours will be 6:30-5 with some days after 5 for when they have staff meetings. I will be open on teacher workdays. But other than that I will be closed when school is closed. For the summer I am open Mon-Wed from 7:30-4. Keeps me having some money coming in, keeps the kids in a routine, gives the parents a couple of days a week to get things done without their kids, etc. But it gives me shorter days and 4 day weekends. It is going to be tight with money this year since I just made the change and don't have time to save a lot but by next summer it will be awesome.

I only take teacher's kids, and do only contracted hours. I do allow each teacher two times per month to stay one hour past there contracted hours (never to exceed 4:30), with no charge, in order for them to attend staff meetings. I do require at least two week's notice of these meetings, though. No calls in the a.m. telling me "oops, I forgot I have a meeting today."
