Got An Appointment For My Son To Get Fitted For Leg Braces, DCM Says...

Someone called from the rehab centre wh owill be working with us to fit my son for his KAFO braces. It's at 1pm over an hour's drive away so I have to take the whole day off.

I am a VERY small day care. I currently ahve two part time children. One is Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and the other is "as needed"...anywhere from one afternoon to 5 full days a week.

Anyway, I had been told by the "as needed DCM that she needed, for sure, all day on May 17th.

When the rehab centre called, they told me it would be on the 17th. I told them I couldnt do that day, so they rebooked for the next Friday on the 24th.

I IMMEDIATELY texted DCM and said, "Finally they called for DS's braces, it'll be on the 24th. They tried to do the 17th but I told them no, haha"

Her response: "Oh shoot. Fridays are generally my busy days. What can we do?"

...are you effing KIDDING me? It says in your contract that you FIND BACKUP CARE. It's not like I'm asking for a day off because I'm tired. My son NEEDS braces to fix severe leg bowing. WTF?!

My reply would be "Well, I don't know what you are going to do but I will taking my son to get fitted for his braces that day. I already gave up the space on the 17th per your request so you will need to figure something out. Have a great day!"

Oh I already responded. "I don't know what you're doing. Sorry."

Just the frigging audacity. She is so nice to my face and so passive aggressive in her texts.

I'm not sure what YOU will do, Jane. But I am bringing DS to get his braces.

This would have been my reply to her, too!

the thing that gets me about this is that she calls Fridays her "busy days", but sometimes she only books me for half a day, or most times, not at all. She just hates the prospect of me NOT being available.

I already make accommodations for her when I have appointments. I have orthodontic braces myself, and whenever they need adjustments, they can ONLY do it on Fridays. Weird, yes but that's the way it is. So I book for as early in the morning as I can, and my MIL comes to stay with my kids until I get back an hour later. MIL has said before that if DCG shows up while I am gone, she is okay with that, because the most time eh's be here with her is 20 minutes. But my MIL is NOT my back up care, especially on days when I will HAVE MY OWN KIDS WITH ME AT AN APPOINTMENT, like when I have to take my son for his leg braces fitting!

How annoying and inconsiderate!! I was just talking with my husband last night about how some parents talk to me and treat me like I'm not even a human being.. I'm just a "thing" that is necessary to care for their kids. Luckily not all parents are like this
