    Ideas please

Ok in my play room I have a good size walk in closet. I don't use it for storage and I used to use it for like our reading nook. I moved that to another area and now I have an empty closet.

I want to make it into something creative the kids will be excited about...

I need ideas....I think it's like 8x10 or so if that help... It has a door but that could be removed without a problem....

A playhouse is always cool! Depending on your needs and your state regs, you could also make it a nursery, which is what I did.

I have a walk in closet right off my playroom, which used to be my office. We have 2 cribs, bookshelves etc. in there. I decorated it all cozy with baby fabrics and paint. The babies are right there and yet the other kids aren't allowed into the room. I like having them very close and yet they can sleep in "private".

I am allowed to do this in Utah. In my old state (OK)... wherever a child slept had to have egress windows. So it depends on state regs as to what you use a closet for. My licensor said it was just part of the basement (which is a walk-out basement) and the fire dept checked it off as OK.

Check out Pinterest for great ideas for closets too.

do you have older kids, that would be an awesome place for older kids or even younger ones to play. Just add a gate. Or it can be an art center.

If you don't have a nap room I would consider that.
Otherwise a dramatic playhouse with dressup, kitchen, table.

Plenty of ideas in that small space:

          1. Computer Lab (You could do one long desk/table across the wall and fill it with children's laptops, leap frog tablets, a smart table and any other technology based educational toys)

          2. Dress Up Corner (You could cover one wall in mirrors and put a children's armoire on the other side to be filled with hats, costumes, etc.)

          3. Playhouse (Large enough for kitchen set, soft seating, etc.)

          4. Puppet Theatre (You can cover one half of the room with floor pillows and hang the puppets decoratively on the wall behind the stage)

          5. Sound Room (I saw an amazing idea for a sound wall where you basically attach a rail like you would see in a dance/ballet studio to the wall and hang various instruments for shaking and drumming by rope such as maracas, tamborines, triangles, etc. and install a floor piano on the ground-the one that lights up when you step on it)

          6. Writing Room (Home Depot has a product called Thrifty White that work as Dry Erase Panels for only $12 for a 8' x 4'. You can easily attach these to the wall and let the children's imagination run wild with dry erase crayons by Crayola or you could do blackboard with chalk)

          7. Nature Room (You can purchase faux habitats that light up such as a fake jellyfish aquarium, butterfly pavillion, etc. they all look VERY real)

          8. Wall Panel Playroom (Anatex has several wall panel toys similar to what you would see in a waiting room. This would use up very little space but would entertain the children and help them fine tune their motor skills. You could also put a bead maze table in the center to complete the space)

          HTH!!
