    How Long...

how long do you keep a toy if none of the kids play with it? I bought an awesome large wooden doll house with tons of furniture. adorable item. the kids played with it for maybe a few days and no one has touched it in weeks. I moved it up on top of a short table and a different area of the house to see if that drew some interest and it didnt. The kids play with the little people houses and one small dollhouse we have but no one wants the big doll house. Should I keep it any longer? I bought it shortly after Christmas. but it was secondhand and I can get back what I paid for it.

It would depend on whether it was something I thought they might like the next year when they were older. If you have a mix of kids and no-one's interested I'd put it away for a while, try it again and if they still aren't interested sell it.

I wouldn't sell it, unless storage space is an issue. My experience has been that the favorite toys of one group, are the least used with another group. I would put it away for awhile, and then try it again in a few months or so. The kids you have will be older and might enjoy it more, or you might have a new kid that loves it and sparks the others interest in it.

I would keep it. Especially something so nice. There would be kids here that would play with it and love it at some point.

Put it in a closet for two months. They will likely be interested when you take it back out.

I rotate. Every time I bring a toy out that has been in storage for atleast 6 months, the kids think it's Christmas and play like they never seen the toy before in their lives...::

I think it depends on the particular group you have. I've had toys that one group hardly ever played with and a group a year later loved. Sometimes it depends on who is the alpha kid and how much imagination they have. My boys have tended to primarily play with cars, until I got some little girls, then it was like a whole new world of play opened up for them. Guided play, where you demonstrate and get them started may help.
