Another thing I need ideas on....

I saw a really cute idea somewhere online and now I cant find it....but I want to do a little center in my playroom like a doctors office and wanted to see what ideas you all had for that. my kids are really into role playing right now. they like to set up little stores and other games like that and I think doctors office would be a big hit. what do you think would be good additions to this list?

    *doctors dress up "scrubs"
    *play doctors kit
    *clipboards, paper, pens
    *a keyboard for a computer
*something for the patient to sit on

    what else?

My kids love this. They love disposable gloves, bandaids, cotton balls, I made a pretend patient gown, an old stethoscope, a pretend blood pressure cuff, anything they'd find in a real doctors office.... I make a lot of my stuff like the Bp cuff

I saw a blog about this recently. Maybe Happy Hooligans. They used TP rolls for splints I think. I'll see if I can find it again.

How about a light box/table for x-rays? You could make your own or buy one.

Found a bunch of other uses for the light table when it's not in the "doctor's office."

And maybe a scale and a growth chart on the wall to measure their height?

I was going to say band aides, I'm so glad you can buy them for a dollar, I don't know what it is with kids and band aides, I could go thru a hundred if I give it to them.

strips of an old sheet or pillow case for bandages, dry cheerios in an empty spice bottle for pills, stickers for being good at the dr's office, a telephone for the appt. desk, magazines for the waiting room....

I am going to make up some of these kits for my granddaughter who will be here this summer. She is 7.

This and the camping one on the other thread are really cute and I will have others all boxed up and really to pull out.

We have a doctor's office going on right now, too. In addition to many of the things listed above, I found some online printables that added to the literacy aspect of their play, and really excited the kids. I've got a tiny little doctor's office Pinterest board here, with great printable forms for pre-readers, as well as printable x-rays and cute felt bandaids.

Great ideas for the tp rolls I never thought of that!! Yes I will try to get pictures of our doctors office today. Definitely have to add the tp rolls!! And I have lots of strips of fabric for bandages my daughter uses tp, tissues, paper towels, anything she can find for bandages..l oh and I almost forgot.... 10 cc syringes... My doc office and pharmacy gives me those... They use them for pretend medicine as well...also I recycle my old breathing treatment oxygen lines for pretend iv lines as well....

It may be a little too realistic for some but my doc also gives me a few of the iv start kits with the iv catheters.... I take the needle out and leave them the plastic hub for iv pretend....

Here is a cool blog about making a pretend play doctor's kit

I also bought a bunch of those slap bracelets from Oriental Trading co (in brown/beige colors) and the kids use those as Band-aides. 100% reusable and easy to use.

thank you for all the ideas! the only thing I am not going to do is the pretend medicine. sounds a little iffy to give kids pretend pills (cheerios or candy) to eat. i would hate for one of the kids to think that that is an okay way to use real medicine. i just have to be extra careful especially since i have two special needs kids in care and they dont always understand the difference between reality and pretend play.
