    Inspection Today

I had an inspection this morning...and it was PERFECT! This was my first absolutely perfect one where my paperwork was flawless and I don't have to make any changes or repairs! She complemented my interactions with the kiddos and said that they seemed so happy and engaged. It is really nice to hear that from my licensing rep.!

Not getting one violation is a hard feat!!! Congrats. It does help when inspector is kind and approving!

I have not had any inspections yet since becoming licensed again. Back in the old days I only remember my initial inspection in the 5 years I did daycare.

What paperwork exactly are they looking for? I have my registration paperwork for each child and immunization records (although some may not be complete), my training hours, tornado/fire drills, attendance...what else is there that I need to make sure I have?

Also, are these just random inspections, or are they for renewal licensing? I've been so paranoid since reading others post about inspections and keep trying to think of everything to have in order because I just have 'that feeling' I may have one.

Mine should be here any day... I know I have 2 boys that need physicals but they only have 2 weeks left until summer break...
I love it when there is nothing! Usually there is one little thing, like gauze!

My licensor asks for enrollment sheets (the ones from the state) and immunization records. I keep those staples together in each child's file, so that I can pull them out together when they come.

That's it? I see most of the people on here have to have first aid kits? That's not a requirement where I am (although it should be).

If I go by the inspection I had at licensing I will be all set with what was required before I had kids enrolled. I'm just so worried about paperwork.

That is it just as far as the paperwork she need each visit. She also checks my training hours, insurance verification, CPR & 1st aide, all when applicable (if they have expired in between visits). We have 3 annual visits.

She does a complete walk through for hazards & non-compliances. She checks fridge temperatures, cabinet locks, and other safety measures. Checks for first aide kits, fire extinguishers, bleach water solution, carbon monoxide detectors, etc. She asks what the children ate that day, and what improvements we have made to the daycare, what questions we have, and what forms we would like extra copies of.

She almost always gives us some sort of educational pamphlets. She came yesterday and gave us a pamphlet on dealing with "toxic parents". ::

But yes, as far as paperwork that is all she asks for. However we have been licensed for almost 10 years, so most all paperwork she needs, she already has on file.

We usually have an announced inspection every Spring and then a few unannounced ones throughout the year. This was my announced one.

As far as paperwork she checks the children's files: immunization records and physicals, permission slips, medical authorizations, blue cards, etc. She checks my attendance records, health check records, fire drill records, and records of my training hours. There is also a list of forms that must be kept on file or posted and she checks those too (my license, my evacuation plan, emergency plan, health plan, daily schedule, CPR and Frist AId, etc.)

She also inspects the house like Blandino said checking for safety hazards and making sure outlet covers are in, cleaning supplies are locked up, the changing table and bathroom are clean and equipped with all necessary supplies, the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors work, the fire extinguishers are in good repair, the wood chips are deep enough underneath the climbing equipment, etc. She also observes me with the children and tells me about anything that may be changing reg. wise. She always asks me if I have questions (I always have a list for her!) and gives me paperwork. All in all she was here about 2 hours after which I was exhausted just from pent-up nervousness! I almost prefer the unannounced visits because I don;t have time to get nervous!

We had one on Thursday. A little earlier than the ballpark we had expected. Everything was good. She came right at lunchtime though...

My licensor used to come every 6 mos like clockwork. Then they assigned everyone new licensors and my new one hasn't come yet. I've been on pins and needles since April 8, which is 6 mos since my last visit. I think I've got all my ducks in a row, but you never know...

My licensor has never asked to see my paperwork:confused:

I do have to have a first aid and a evacuation kit though and she also checks to make sure that all the smoke detectors are hard wired.
