Do you have any rules about swim wear? also, sunscreen recommendations?

I have each of my daycare parents provide a swim suit for their child that stays here at the daycare till the end of summer. I launder as needed. I am hoping that everyone uses common sense this year about swim wear that is suitable for play! I have had VERY tiny bikinis in the past which is ridiculous for babies (that wear swim diapers under a tiny brief swim bottom) or toddlers (who generally have round tummies so the top rolls up and the bottom rolls down). last year, everyone provided suitable one piece items and i didnt have to have any discussions about swim wear. boys wear swim trunks so its pretty straight forward there.

also, can someone refresh me about sunscreen rules for babies, toddlers and preschoolers? I always have to double check because I forget each year. also recommendation on scent free, natural/gentle sunscreens for kids?

I require a bathing suit and swim shirt or a bathing suit with a swim shirt as a part of it. It covers their backs, chests and upper arms exposing much less skin to burn. I've been requiring them for 3 years and I love them. It makes things so much easier.

For sunscreen that's easy to spread but more natural than most I like Neutrogena Beach Defense for Kids. There are a couple of others that are better but they are so hard to apply that I can't make it work efficiently. We go to the beach daily in the summer.

I require one piece swim suits and sunscreen.
I also require Uv swim shirts, I love those!!

Banana boat, water babies, neutrogena and just about any box store brand you can think of is full of chemicals and cancer causing agents.

My families still bring them, even after we discuss the harmful ingredients.

      Check your sunscreen here- http://www.ewg.org/2012sunscreen/

I use california baby, and I just got a new mineral sunscreen from groupon. I can't remember the name right now.

The brand I use isn't on that site. Maybe it's only american products?

I require that parents bring swimsuits and swim tops for the boys. Also they need to provide their own sunscreen. This eliminates my concern on what they shoudl use. They bring it labeled with their childs name on it and sign a form saying that I can apply it. We have to have something signed for us to use it as a child could have an allergic reaction to it.

This is how I do it too. I require one piece suits for the girls and require a tee shirt or tank top for the boys to reduce the sun exposure to them as well.

I also have the parents supply the sun screen along with being required to apply the first application to their child BEFORE drop off time.

I ask that all the kids wear rash guardswith their swimsuits, girl or boy. They're like a short sleeve t-shirt, but thin and dry fast.

I have the parents send me several bottles/cans of sunscreen at the beginning of summer.

I used to make all the kids wear short sleeve t-shirts over their suits for sun protection more than modesty.
