I'm doing a combo this year. First I'm doing them a cute laminated picture frame that has a stand and a spot I'm going to put a small picture if their kiddo... Basically I printed it on card stock them laminated then cut it out.

Then the kids are doing them something similar as the plaster except I'm doing their foot print and I'm coloring the plaster and putting a hanging hook on it they can hang on the wall. The moms of two if mine are in new to them houses and said they had nothing to decorate and out in the wall.

I think for Father's Day I'm going to do something with canvases....

That sounds so cute and I'm looking for last minute ideas. I have all the supplies except I have the paint on modge podge.

Is acrylic paint hard to wash off their hands when they are finished? Do you just need soap and water or something more?

No acrylics aren't hard to wash off of skin, at least the ones we have aren't. The ones we use are latex acrylic made with artificial latex. If it dries it peels right off but it's easy to wash off too with just soap and water

I'm pretty sure I bought the stands at Hobby Lobby or Joanns. They are mini easels

The tiles are 5 3/4 X 5 3/4 (or close to)

We did the upside down flower pot with acrylic paint drips. We put a candle inside and made a cupcake liner flower.
I wrote a little note to go inside of cards

You make the darkest night
Shine like a candle bright
Like a flower seed you sow

Thanks! I've had a chance now to look at the box. It doesn't say anything about latex but it does say: Clean up with water. No solvents required. When all else fails, read the directions. ::

I decided to go with the 'purse card' someone posted above because they can decorate them themselves.

just made are mothers day projects. We were gonna make the plates with the handprints but my store of course did not have enough of any plate. Soooo I found 97 cent cutting boards that I let the older kids color then put there hand prints on and I wrote I love mommy! on they turned out soo cute. And I sprayed the clear coat paint over it so hopefully nothing will come off. The handle of the cutting board has a hole in it so if they want to hang it up they can.

I just used acrylic paint and did not seal it.

The tile was ceramic, not sure if it was glazed (I would say no)

We did silhouettes of each child. It worked out great because the kids did the majority of the work. They painted the canvas a pearl white color, then I took profile pictures of them, printed it out onto sticker paper, cut out their heads and taped them to the canvas, then they painted the canvas again black and gold (mixed together), I removed the stickers, then we finished off with painting stencil letters in gold. This one is my daughter's:

Cute stuff, you guys! I love the tiles on the easels, I might have to try those for Christmas.

We did canvas bags with handprint/footprint flowers and footprint butterflies. Most of my families are sibling pairs so the older one did a butterfly on one side and the younger one did flowers on the other. I wasn't thinking when I did the babies ~ trying to get handprints on the under one's is next to impossible! I should have stuck with the butterflies for them! But they turned out ok

Yep, it's actually one of my cheaper Mother's Day gifts. Here is what I needed:

• Canvas
  I purchased the canvas at Michaels. They sell 7 packs of 11x14 canvas for $19.99, but I always do the 40% coupons (from my Smart Phone, but you can print it up at home and bring it), so it ended up being about $13.50.
• Paint
  I used acrylic paint (pearl white for the bottom layer and black + gold for the top layer). You can really use any kind of paint on canvas but I figured acrylic would be best for longevity. I have a thing with purchasing acrylic paint (ok I really love to paint shop) so I just bought new. I over-purchased too! You actually don't need much and you probably have what you need on hand already.
• Paint brushes
  I'm sure you already have paint brushes on hand. The big foam ones work best for covering large surfaces and making a smooth final product (they're fail proof for the little ones!).
• Alphabet stencils or stamps
  I already have both on hand, but if you have good penmanship I'm sure you could just paint it yourself. I wanted something the kids could do without it looking too archaic.
• Sticker computer paper or vinyl
  I actually purchased a roll of re-positional vinyl since I read it works better for leakage. It was around $10 for a huge roll on Amazon. There is plenty leftover I can use for something else now.
• Camera
  I'm sure you have this already. You need it to take a profile picture.
• Printer to print out the images

So I ended up spending $13.50 (canvas) + $10 (vinyl) +~$7 (new acrylic paint) = $30.50 / 6 children (plus leftovers for other projects) = ~$5 per child.

If you have the paint and sticker paper on hand then the cost would only be about $2.50 per child.

I bought a bouquet of different kinds of flowers for $15 and separated them into vases. Then I set up a flower shop center. The kids can come tomorrow and "buy" flowers for their mommy with pretend money and decorate a container with ribbons and paint to put them in. My kids are all 2 and I like to find things they can do themselves.
