    Twilight Zone Today

My most "with it" family didn't show up this morning. Child comes between 7:15 and 8 at the latest. I texted them at 9:30. Mom texts back 15 mins later. "Oops, sorry, we're out of town. Guess Grandpa is keeping all the kids home today. See you tomorrow."

My SA is always picked up by 5:15. He's never once been picked up past that in almost 2 yrs unless we were on an outing and I requested a late pickup. I called Dad at 5:45. "Uh, oh, I forgot Grandma is out of town. I don't have anyone to pick him up. Can you take him home for me?" Dad has a live in gf but she doesn't have a car.

I can't believe 2 families messed up today. The two families who never forget to keep me informed.

WHAT?! Why couldn't DCD pick him up? I sure hope you had some fees in there for late pick up and taking YOUR time to drive home! WOW!

DCD doesn't get home until 7:30 or 8, drops off at 5 AM. He works over an hour away and puts in a long day. I have driven dcb home 3 other times over the past 1 1/2 years. I cut this dad a break. He's been trying to do it all on his own. There's no mom anywhere in the picture and GF comes and goes.

Good for you. I know there is a thin and treacherous line between "it takes a village" and "taking advantage of the day care lady", but I'm always glad when I see someone falling on the village side in cases like this.

I agree with this. I think that is the beauty of family childcare!

Yep, everyone showed up on time and SA will be picked up by his other grandma today.
