    School Age Definition In MN

So I have a child who will turn 5 in August. He is being held back but it was my understanding he would be considered a school age child as of May 10th. I did look up the rule which reads that as long as the are eligible within 4 months they are. Just wondering if any of you have run into this and checking that I am interpreting the rule correctly

School age is 4 years and 8 months old regardless of attendance in kindergarten. You got it!

Had the same situation this last year. One of my DCK turned 5 on August 2th making them eligible for Kindergarten. Parents chose to hold the child back.

The child was considered school age in May (even though they were technically only 4 at the time) and spent the whole year as a SA child in care.
