    Raising Rates

How often do you'll raise your rates, or do you??

I raise mine everytime the state assistance program does.

Sometimes that is every other year sometimes not.

I recently raised my rates for the first time in 6 years.

I don't necessarily keep my rates the same as the state assistance program but close to it.

I have been open 5 years, and raised mine from 250 to 275 per week 3 years ago. I haven't raised them since then.

O okay, so I can go to my states website and find out how often they raise their rates?

I'm not sure if that info is posted on line or not but the Department of Health and Human services sends us (providers) notices of when the rates change.

I accept families on assistance and am on the DHS e-mail notification list so I think that is why they let us know when changes happen.

When I first opened up, I was earning $75 per week.
(state paid, I think $70 per week)

I am now at $140-170 per week.
(state currently pays $136 per week)

I can accept them, but since being opened I haven't had any voucher clients to enroll.Although one of my dcps just had an appt to get on them on Monday!

I guess it won't hurt to call and see if they could put me on the DHS-email list then!

Would you be making more through the state assistance program? If so, rock on! happyface

I haven't raised my rates. I actually quoted $5.00 LESS per week to the last interviewing family and the last three inquiries to try and fill my spot. I hear crickets.

For infants the states pays $17.50.....Toddlers.....$16.50 Preschool....$15.50 and this is full-time. I do not accept infants as of now, but I guess I could take in 1!

I don't think I would lower my rates to fill the spot I have open, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do if you need the spot filled quickly!

I just raised my rate for the first time, I had a new family enroll. All of my other families are on the old rate and as they leave the new families will have the higher rate.

All of my families but 1 are on the old rate. My next rate increase everyone will be on the same rate scale!

                        Raising Rates Question

I am a newer FCC and have my rates entirely too low including shooting myself with my sibling rate (with my rates I give a $100discount a week to siblings rather than charging per child).

My question is I am going to redo my contract to being in March, although the current clients I have I will give them the contract to review and decide on in January with March enforcement to allow for any that decide to change or give them enough time to make a decision to stay or look elsewhere.

Any suggestions? Am I thinking logically? It isn't about trying to become a millionaire but trying to make this my sole income so as not to work 2 jobs.

I wish I could but I'm afraid I'd start losing families left and right. I've already got 1 family that asked if they could get a reduced price, then another one said they couldn't afford to go to a childcare that didn't offer them a sibling discount.
Last time I raised my rates was...hmmm, maybe 20 yrs. ago. And that's back when I had calls for dc all the time. It was for 5.00 a week and I still lost 1 dcf.
Isn't it amazing that we have some families who don't quibble one bit and consider us an important part of their child's lives, then the next family can afford to eat out every other night, dress their clothes in the most fashionable clothes, yet quibble about a few dollars. I just don't get it.

This is what I do as well. I just raised my sibling rate from 200 to 240 for full time and fingers crossed, have some starting in Dec.
