Birthday And Behavior Issues, What To Do

I have a dck that is turning 5 today. DCD brought cupcakes and cookies for bday treat.

all day the Bday girl has had bad behavior and issues with listening. Normally, I would just say sorry, you will not have a treat today. BTW I hate treats of any kind and never give them, but this is a special occasion...

Question is would you give DCK a treat and celebrate the day for them even though they had bad behavior all day??

I almost feel mean for asking this..... I feel bad

Give it to her when she goes home. She may take it "to go."

Is she usually poorly behaved? Was she just over excited because of her birthday? I know it's over already, but I probably would have given the treat at PM snack per my usual birthday treat policy. I don't think food should be used as a punitive measure and withholding a treat (especially on the child's birthday) just doesn't sit well with me - especially if others DO get the treat.

Yeah,I would never withhold a treat as punishment if everyone else still gets one, and they were her birthday treats, I know its over now though.

I completely agree that treats should not be used as a reward or something to lose as a punishment.
