Just remember that you DESERVE time off. The parents have had plenty of time to find another sitter. High school kids are off for the summer and are looking for jobs to make some extra cash. A lot of my families will take vacation when I do. Its summer and I am sure the parents can find someone or something to do with their kids.

Dont worry and enjoy your vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would close. If I am just going away for a long weekend I will have my sub work 1 or 2 days but my full week vacation I close. You can't fully relax when the daycare is open. If there is an issue the parents will be calling you.

I would close. I don't ever feel an ounce of quilt when I close for vacation, sick days, family days, etc.

The only thing is, taking two weeks at once probably wouldn't fly at my daycare. My daycare parents have no issues with my two paid vacation weeks per year - but I've been told it's preferred if I take them sperately (which is what I prefer and do anyway).

I have always taken my vacations for one week at a time also, but this year my daughter has moved to Texas...I am in Michigan and will have 3 grandkids going with me so flying is out of the question, plus we are taking a little detour to try to go through as many states as possible for the fun of it. It will only take us 100 miles out of our way, but having a destination that far away, it's a must to take two weeks.

Close and enjoy your time off.

My policies state that parents need to have back-up care for vacations and such. Most parents have relatives that can fill in, or take vacation themselves so it's not a hazard that they'll switch to their back-up care.

I would close and enjoy the time off. I might see if my sub was interested in watching the dc kids at *their* home but I would make it VERY clear that the arrangement was between the sub and the family and they needed to leave me out of it! I would not be comfortable with someone in my home while I wasn't there for that long.

I also see nothing wrong with two weeks total - I don't take that amount time off at once, but would in a heartbeat if we were going somewhere.

Close. I would let your assistant know if she wants to babysit for any of them, she is welcome to make that offer on her own.

Our provider takes vacation the same time every year so the parents have a year's notice! This year she changed it but still gave plenty of notice -- it was about six to seven month's notice. For me two weeks at once would be extremely difficult for us but a week at a time isn't reason we would go looking elsewhere ESPECIALLY since we love our provider and our daughter loves being there. And even though two weeks at once would be hard I highly highly doubt it would be enough for us to go looking elsewhere.

Hopefully if you just close (which would probably be better), your clients won't go elsewhere. I'm just saying as a parent, when I find a good daycare provider that we love, it would take more than that for us to leave. Hope your clients are the same.
