CA Large License

!! I just went large this past August. I was told that if there is another large daycare within 500 ft from my home, then I would not be able to upgrade. You can upgrade if there is a small daycare ( There is another day are provider 4 houses down samll daycare) and I was able to ge one. This depends on your county zoning. So you will have to call the county planning department. They are the ones that let you know if you can go large. Send this approval to licensing. So before you send your application to licensing you must contact he county first. Licensing has nothing to do with zoning regulations. I just went through this. My county was a little harder, and it cost me 250. Not bad your neighbor may be telling you this so you do not apply. If she does get her large license first then You will not be able to go large. Which is one of the reasons I went large. I didn't want to take the chance hat my neighbor would go large before me the I wouldn't be able too. I know it sounds harsh but I knew I wanted to go large eventually (which I ended up filling my spots within 2 weeks of upgrading) so I went ahead and did. I suggest you start with your county planning dept. your pretty close to me so I'm sure the regulations are he same. After you get the approval, before you send your application to licensing you have to write down your local fire department on the application you send in. Licensing will Contact the fire department who will the. Contact you to set up an appointment to come out and get a clearance. The fire dept will then send the clearance to licensing. then licensing will Come out for your unannounced upgrade visit. HTH

True to this... This sounds like a city issue more than licensing. I was told the exact same thing from the city. That sometimes when there are too May Daycare homes in the same area/zone most likely you won't get a city license/permit. I honestly freaked out when they first told me this but luckily I received my permit not too long ago, a month ago to be exact happyface

I called the city a few minutes ago, the city planning guy told me that the fee is now $6900. I will go down and talk to them in person tomorrow. If that is the case, I will not be doing it.
