    Smelling like urine

What do you do when a child comes in smelling like dried urine and they don't have a spare change of clothing? Just a shirt and underwear but no pants.
    It's hurting our noses.

I'd wash him up, throw his clothes in the washer and dryer..and put them back on

      Hi DCM

I think Timmy may have had a slight accident on his way to daycare. His pants strongly smell like urine & I just realized you have not provided a spare pair. I need you to either collect him or drop off a pair of pants by x:xx am. I know neither of us would want him uncomfortable or for the other kids to notice and embarass him. Also, here is the list of supplies that need to be left here xyz.

      Thanks, ECS

Do you have and can you use some baby shampoo? Are you allowed to wash him up with some soap and a wash cloth??

Is it too difficult to do a quick bath?

There is also something called Waterless Body Wash (usually found at drug stores) that works wonders if a full on bath is not feasible. Typically run about $10 at CVS or Walgreens.

I usually just wash them a little and throw their clothes in the washer.

I have extra clothes for almost all the kids... I don't have the parents bring them, I just buy extras and keep them here.

If it was warm enough there, i'd suggest some water table play to help wash away the smell. But, Since it's snowing across most of he country still, i'll assume it's not warm there.

If the child is older, i'd probably make it look like "an accident", and I'll spill bubbles on him or her then let them know i need to wash their clothes.

I absolutely will not and do not wash the children. Not only is there no bath tub in the rooms we use for daycare, who would be watching the other 7 children??? Plus, I would be seriously uncomfortable bathing a 4.5-year-old child. I don't even go into the restroom with them after the age of 3, I stand outside.

Problem solved. Thanks for the suggestions.
