    New Preschool Teacher

My center is hiring a new preschool teacher and I was asked to help come up with some questions for the interview. I am not thinking the standard questions, like background, work experience, etc, (they already have those) but more of questions on teaching style, and philosophy. We want to make sure that this new teacher fits in with the changes we are trying to make. (Play based preschool, process vs product art) I am having trouble wording the questions. Anyone have any suggestions for good questions to ask or ways to ask them?

(A little bit of quick background. The center I work for is co-owned by my parents with another person- which is why they asked me to help with interview questions. The head preschool teacher now has been there since they opened when I was young and they are trying to make the program more up to date.)

what is your opinion of worksheets

give me an idea of an art experience for 3 yr olds that you might plan about snow.

If you had a child with some developmental delays how could you adapt an activity such as painting
    It:: will wait

How would you handle a child who is having a tantrum?

Are you familiar with writing and executing a lesson plan?

How would you handle a child who does not wish to participate in a certain activity, or quickly losses interest in an activity?

I'd ask what types of behavior in the classroom would she ignore or what behavior she would discipline and how would she do that while trying to keep the other children focused

Does she have any experience with children who have learning disabilities

          Explain your teaching philosophy.

If our theme for the month was "Up in the Sky" what art activity would you plan and what skills would the child gain as a result?

How would you handle a parent that is demanding her child learn to read before the end of the year?

How would you handle a parent who is angry at you for enforcing a rule that she doesn't agree with?

Describe your most difficult experience with a child, and how tou handled it.

What is your best teaching moment?

                Eligilibility for Preschool teacher

                - Teacher to have experience working with children
                - Sense of humor is a huge asset, Teacher must not afraid to laugh and make kidz smile
