    Potty Training :(

DCK 2.5 came with underwear today. DCK is not potty trained but "did well" over the weekend. In the past I have just put dck in pull up as soon as mom left, but today I am thinking about keeping the underwear on.

I'm almost postive dck will not let me know when it is time to potty but can do everything else potty wise (going in, pulling down/up pants, washing hands). What do you all think? Should I work with it? I'll admit that I hate potty training. All of my own kids were 3-3.5 when finally potty trained. I tried earlier with my oldest and quit because of the struggle. I'm not going to get into the struggle but it has more to do with me than my daughter. I realized I was not being a nice mom and decided that was not my battle. I decided that when it was harder to change a diaper than potty train we'd do it. Then it was easy.

I don't know. Sounds like you know your DCK well enough to know if they are or aren't ready to train yet.

If you think they would make progress and you are ok with them being in undies, then I say go for it.

If you really don't want to deal with them possibly getting pee all over, then you'll have to find another alternative such as plastic pants or some sort of protective cover to contain the mess.

I think it is always a good thing when parents take the initiative to get their child trained but if the process becomes more work for me than I can manage without taking from the care/supervision of the other kids in care, then I require parents to do a majority of training on the weekends and while possibly taking a few days off work to do the bulk of it.

Well, that lasted until 10am. I was letting her go a little longer than 30 minutes and she peed on the floor.

Did she come tell you she peed or did you notice it first?

If she told you, then I would say she atleast has an idea of what she is suppose to be doing but if she didn't say anything and you noticed it, then I would say she definitely needs more training and to be further along in the process before being allowed to be in undies.

No, she didn't come to me. One of my kids came and told me. I didn't let my own kids wear underwear until they were accident free for 2 weeks. I'm going to have to put that in place again.

I think I'll talk to mom about what they are doing at home (sticker chart, etc...). If they are I'll help train in the pull up. She can add stickers to their chart at home if she's using it.
