I Had To Let A Good Family Go-Now I'm Sad

Last fall, I only had 2 part time kids (1 family). An acquaintance asked me to keep her grandson 2 Saturdays a month. I was already working every other Saturday, and needed the money, so I agreed.

A couple of months later, my part timers went full time with no Saturdays. But, I kept the drop in because 1) I needed the money and 2) he's a great kid and we were crazy about him.

Last week, I finally filled my 3rd spot and it is going to mean longer hours. Working Saturday would have put me at almost 60 hours of kids a week. So today, I let him go.

Wouldn't you know that he picked this day to be especially cuddly and adorable? Every time he walked past, he stopped and hugged me. I cried when he left. But for the first time since I started more than 2 years ago, I don't have to work Saturdays!!! happyface

    That's hard!
I did weekends and evenings when I first started too. It's nice to get regular full timers, congrats! But it's hard to let good families go too!

      ((((hugs)))) for your loss.

Sometimes doing the right thing for you involves a bit of sadness too.

But good for you for recognizing the fact that you don't want to work such long hours just because it is in the best interest of someone else verses what's best for you.
