Do You Ever Feel Like Not Serving A Particular Food To One Child

Just because they can't seem to eat it without making a disaster?

Every other kid seems to be able to eat crumbly food like muffins without making a million crumbs but I have one girl who has to break her food into the littlest pieces and makes such a mess.

I've taken to giving her a quarter of a muffin and saying she can have more when she eats what she has, otherwise I will have a full muffin crumbed up all over.

Oh sure! We don't have crackers often bc I try to limit processed foods but when we do I make everyone go outside to eat them. For some reason two of my kids (my own DS is one of them) can not eat crackers without the area ending up looking literally like they crushed the crackers in their hands and used them as confetti, throwing it all around the room. I know they definitely don't do that bc I watch them eat but that's what it looks like when they're finished. So on those days it's picnic snack!!

Put the muffin in a bowl and saturate it with milk. Have her eat it with a spoon.

      Muffin pudding isn't messy.

Yep, COUS COUS (rice, pasta, etc) and a 2 1/2 yo dcb. It's EVERYWHERE. He is pt though, so I literally arrange my menu around his attendance. We generally have wraps, pitas, salads and sandwiches when he is here. ::

I have a four year old girl who has to pull all of her food apart before eating it. Muffins are the worst. I used to make muffins all the time, but she makes it it such a mess.

Rice has to be the worst thing ever to sweep up!

Btw this is why I love having a dog around the daycare! Rice gets eaten up as soon as it touches the floor and so does everything else!

:: I had the same reaction! My father's favorite snack was white bread in milk topped with a little sugar. Yuck! Used to make us all sick watching him prepare it. Ah, memories!

I rarely serve rice, cupcakes and muffins because of the mess they make. I don't want to be a partypooper but I cringe a little when parents insist on bringing cupcakes in to celebrate their kids' birthdays.

The most messy child in my daycare is my own daughter:: However, she is a great eater, so I can't really complain. She doesn't mess around and make a mess, she just is messy.

I never do cupcakes. When we do muffins, I always use my mini muffin pans, that seems to help a little.

I think pasta/rice is the worst mess. It is so hard to sweep up. I have the kids help clean their own area though, so that helps.

Every time I serve couscous or rice I wonder "WHY do I do that?!" but I do it anyway. Sure, I feel that way sometimes, but I serve the food anyway.
