Why do I get so paranoid??

Do any of you get super paranoid when one of your dck gets hurt?

My dcb (almost one year old) fell at the park today and got a cut on his eyebrow. It was really small, but took a while to stop bleeding. I was just so worried about it and wasn't sure if the parents would want to get stitches (even though if he was mine I wouldn't). So I called his dad to see if he wanted to come look at the cut since he works just minutes down the road. He came and said "Oh that's nothing.. he's fine". So first I felt overly paranoid and now I just feel stupid!

..and then he just decided to take him home because he said work was really boring and needed an excuse to leave work early (this was at lunchtime)! Okay, now I feel bad...

Why do I have to be such a worrier?!?

Because you CARE. Stop feeling bad and feel glad that you did exactly what you were supposed to and children do get scrapes etc. also be glad you have a good parent who understands the same things. You did all the right things and if you are like me, you'll worry all night he has a concussion

You are definitely NOT alone. I am ALWAYS concerned about when a child gets hurt. More so when its not my own child ! Some injuries may look minor when in fact it can take a turn for the worse and become serious.

Don't sell yourself short...its better to be overly cautious than not concerned at all.

You did what you thought was right and that's a good thing! Different parents think differently about things that happen with their children. You have the parents who are overly dramatic about the tiniest scrape and others who think they are no big deal. I used to get paranoid, but through the years I have realized that kids are going to get hurt! I always call the parents no matter how little or big the accident is, that way you are covered in case that "little" accident turns into something more. I actually put a policy in my handbook a about bumps, bruises, etc... so that parents know that they can happen-you would think that that would be a given, but you never know. I wouldn't feel bad for calling, plus the dad needed an excuse to leave work anyways....

That's exactly how I am too, I worry about everything. I always joke with my parents and say ok didn't you read the contract it says no injuries at my house and they always laugh.
