    What a Sweetheart !

Today my back was feeling like I had pulled something (I have no idea how). So we had a nice relaxing day, where I could just sit on the floor with the kids.

By the afternoon, it was really hurting to bend over, so when the kids were done with snack, I filled up the sink with hot water and asked them to put their cups and bowls in the sink and throw away their napkins (I usually clear the table for them) and told them it was because my back hurt when I bent down. I didn't say much else about my back hurting.

About 15 minutes later, I hear almost 4yo DCB messing around in the back room (where we nap), and I said "DCB come here, I don't want you playing in there where I can't see you, what are you doing in there ?". He says " I am putting the mats up to help you since you can't bend down to pick them up". I ALWAYS stack the mats for them, so for him to even think of that on his own was PRECIOUS ! What a sweet sweet boy.

What a sweet child. It always makes us feel so much better when we have a little one think of someone else. I'll bet once the others figured out what he was doing, that they wanted to help also. Hope you feel better soon...I'm going through the same thing myself, except it's my neck. OUCH!!!

I have this thing where I assign each kid a weekly responsibility. The parents love it and are all doing it at home now. Each week it changes. I have 3 dck and my own son who are old enough. So I have 4 weekly jobs and they rotate (1) kitchen helper: each child already has to clear their own meal and snack garbage but the kitchen helper assists me with washing dishes, setting up for meals and snacks (not plates or bowls with food in them though just silverware and napkins etc), bringing sippy cups to the table, and cleaning up after snacks and meals. (2) animal helper: they help me feed the chickens, dogs, pet rat etc and assist with letting the dogs and cats in and out the door when said animal asks to go (3) outside helper: assists me with any outside chores, such as keeping toys neat and out of where the cars park, etc and (4) bathroom helper: they help me be sure there is always plenty of toilet paper and hand soap and paper towel in the bathroom etc.

Of course I do all these jobs with them but each Monday they are so proud of the helper badge they get for the week, no matter what badge it may be.
