They basically provide a room, a few toys and an adult to watch over a large amount of kids. Centers around here charge around $300 and offer academics. Their ratios are high.
I charge $250 a week for full time and a little less for teachers kids because I prefer the earlier hours. I am allowed to have 5 children beyond my own but I usually keep a small group of 3 or 4. Quality home daycares are rare in my area so I am able to charge more.
This is me exactly. Same average, and I charge the same rate. The big difference I have is my daycare is in our basement and has two large playrooms. One is a regular playroom with a teaching area and small motor toys, and the other is a large open room with a ball pit, slide, foam floors and room to run. I also have a separate sleeping room away from the playrooms, and that always gets the "ooooo!" From parents.
I'm also in a large single family home - in my area, most daycares are in townhouse or apartments, so I think that makes a small difference.

I am full, with a wait list, and have people offering to pay more to be moved up on the list.

After a little over 10 years in business my rates are average for the area but my hours are 7:30 am-3:30 pm. I'm perfectly happy with charging a little less to have the shorter hours.

My rates are in the middle for my area. I say this based on knowing prices for the one center in my small town - their rates are @ $125/week for a FT preschooler/toddler & $165/week for infants. My FT toddler/pk rate is $110/week & $135/week for infants. I have seen plenty of ads in my area for FT infant or PK care for less than $100/week FT. Some as low as $75/week for FT.:: & I saw one provider advertise $100 for 2 kids

I am 175$ a week and the going rate is about 200$ a week for home daycare. I last put my fees up in 2009 and don't really see any need to do so again. I have good families who pay me on time and appreciate my services. I don't have any problem staying full.

I'm at the higher end as well. I'm probably one of the longest and most established in my area though and I don't have problems staying full.
I like the idea of charging a little less and closing at 3:30, I just may consider that in the next couple of years

This may sound stupid but I have different rates currently because I keep on different schedules. I have a 2&3 year old sibling group that is Monday through Friday 700 am until 530 pm. They pay me $200 a week. I have a 3 yr old girl who comes 5 days a week never the same days and she's here from 130 pm until midnight at $75 a week. Then my special needs baby is here anywhere from 1 day a week to 3 days a week from 400 pm until 1000 pm and she pays $80 a week. My 15 month old is here from 600 am until 400 pm three days a week and she pays $75 a week. And then my son is 4 almost five and will start school next year. And my daughter is 10 and is currently also in school.

But to answer the question... Sorry I got distracted hahahaha ha.... I'm average for the area there is a HUGE variation where i am. Anywhere from $60 a week for ft to $125 a week for ft. I've even seen some begging for clients fearing $40 a week for ft. I'm thinking they may not last long on the profession . I offer a lot I think, compared to most. At least that's what the NHI lady has told me. I just thought what I offer is normal

My rates are on the higher end, but I've been in the field for 18+ years (since 1999 in this area) have a Bachelor degree in Music Ed (K-12) an Associate in Early Childhood Ed, and am a level 14 out of 17 levels on the statewide career ladder. (You need a Doctorate in Early Childhood to be level 17 and a Masters to be level 16). I figure I'm worth it.

My rates are average for my area.... a little higher than the new providers. But, MUCH lower than the centers. The centers around here charge about $60-$70 a day. I charge half that.

I charge $110. There's only one other DC in my area and she's like $85-95 I think and is full with a waiting list. But I separate my kids into 2 buildings 0-3yr olds and 3yr old and up. I think it's worth it. We are almost full, and I am comfortable where we are. There is a DC center about 5 minutes away that charges $185 and all other DC homes are 15+ minutes away.
