    Do you have???

Do you have dck's who put their fingers into their noses and then into their mouths? That totally grosses me out!!!!!! I have a newer 5 yo who does that all the time. Every time he does it I make him go wash his hands. I'd much rather get him to quit doing it...any suggestions.

This child has got to have the worst manners I've ever seen in a child!!!

Super gross! I can't stand it. I can't stand seeing wiggling teeth either.

I've got one better - I have a brother and sister who can lick INSIDE their noses with their tongues. Ewwwwww!!!!

The teeth thing grosses me out too. My policy is I do puke, poop and blood, but not teeth!

I have a 4 year old girl who has nose picking down to an art.

She uses two fingers and switches them back and forth with great precision.

Forefinger picks and then gets put in the mouth at the same time the middle finger goes up the nose....back and forth...back and forth.....it's absolutely disgusting. Her mother thinks it's the cutest/cleverest thing ever.

I send her to wash hands CONSTANTLY, but it's such a habit, she doesn't even notice she's doing it.

Mom says "It's just a phase and all kids do it"

I heard its a nervous/boredom habit like biting your nails or twiddling your fingers. It can also be a compulsive behavior (anxiety about having something in the nose).

The only thing I can think of to try to stop it is give them something to keep their hands busy and just keep discouraging it.

I would tell mom that is how germs spread in daycare! Not to mention it irritates the sinuses and even infections if the finger isn't clean or the nails are not properly groomed- which means more sick days for DCG.
