    Does Anybody Know???

Does anybody on here have foster licenses as well as daycare license?

I am wondering if the classes you take for foster care can also be used for daycare and vice verse???

Anybody know? I think it's crazy if you have to take classes for both.

I did for years. It depends on the state if you are even allowed to have both licenses.

For most classes, yes, the hours can count for both. HOWEVER, the reality is that you often do not get to overlap much.

CPR/First Aid, of course counts for both, as well as nutrition & behavior, special needs stuff, etc. My foster license only requires 15hrs of classes for renewal (so 15 hrs every FOUR years). My daycare license was 16 or 18 hours EVERY YEAR. My foster (and then to adopt) licensed required 2 specific classes, that BOTH dh & I had to take for a total of 15 hrs. So, plus the cpr/first aid, we had more than we needed anyway for fostering. And if you are counting your daycare hours for fostering...your dh, if you have one, still has to come up with his own hours to count for foster license. Your state may handle things differently, but it is rather a non-issue IRL.

My state requires 12 hours per year for fostering and 10 hours per year daycare. I did the 12 hours for foster, but wondering if it can also be used for daycare...I really don't know why it wouldn't. It all has to do with child development etc.

I am in Western NY. I became a foster parent in 2008 and had to do MAPP which was 15 hours of training, a medical, fingerprinting & a SCR. I have to do 6 hours a year & a medical yearly to maintain my foster care license.

I became a licensed home daycare provider in 2011. My fingerprints were on file, I sent copies of my SCR and my Medical. I had to do new training's and am required to have 30 hours of training every 2 years. (I did Health & Safety 15 hours, CPR, Basic First Aid, Business Operations, Growing Veggies, Transportation & Preventing Shaken Baby Syndrome.) I am sure the CPR class could count towards my foster care licence but I keep them separate when I sign up for training's.

The say I read the MI law any classes that you take that involve learning about child development/business etc. would count. You could call your licensor just to be sure though.
