I need some kind of shade for outside...... I would love a retractable awning but it costs way too much.
What do you use?
Do you get shade from the house itself? Here the shade can be from anything at all....a tree, your home according to the time of day, the neighbors house etc. Not necessarily a physical shade object like a canopy etc.
We bought several really inexpensive shade sails at Walmart.
I love them because I can move them to wherever I need them.
That's what I am doing for the outdoor art studio and sand area! I LOVE the look, they are inexpensive, last a long time and cut the temp by up to 20 degrees!
In the late afternoon, our privet hedge shades the lawn & play area, but earlier in the day, I use several umbrellas in stands that I can move around to get shade where I want it.
I have the triangle awnings from Ikea. I paid $20 for them and hook 1 corner to house and sank two posts in ground to anchor the other corners. DH just used tree branches but you could use conduit or a fence post.
I know some of us don't like Walmart but, last summer I bought a pop up canapy that is made by Coleman(the camping gear stuff) for under $200...they have lots of cheaper options available. If you don't like Walmart try a sporting goods store, Lowe's, etc. and you can find one for probably around $70 or maybe cheaper if you have a Big Lots in your area.
