Just got a call from someone who has two children, but only needs care for about 45 minutes per day, in the afternoon. The kids are SA's. My regular rate for a full afterschool week would be $60. How much should I charge for this? I'd still be feeding them both a snack and helping with homework.
Rate for 45 minutes?

I charge $50 wk for both am & pm care, no matter how long they are here, and $30 wk for just am or pm care. If it was just one day for 45 min, I would charge a flat $6 fee. If it was everyday for 45 min, they would pay the wkly $30. And in your case it's 2 kids? So I would make it $60 for both and just explain what your reg rate is for after for one child, and it doesnt matter how long they are here and they are taking 2 spots. I wont even take a am or pm, unless I have BOTH slots filled first.- Flag

It sounds reasonable $60 per child. I remember I pay $50 per week to my old provider when my first daughter was in care for only 45 mins (before and after school care). At first, she would charge $75 per week which I think it is nuts but she was willing to do discount $50 per week from $75 per week since it is only 45 mins.- Flag

I would check with your local after school care program at their school. Our's charges 32/week for after school care, per child. I would charge slightly less than that - so I agree that here, $30/week per child would be appropriate.- Flag

I think you should figure what your hourly rate for this comes to and keep in mind that hourly costs more than part-time/after-school care just like part-time costs more than full-time care (usually). I would charge the full hour even though it's only 45 minutes.- Flag
